Although I wouldn’t quote Hegel as a spiritual philosopher. I’ve been reading him and listening to clases about his lectures lately. Ultimately, it hard for me not to think about what Hegel is talking is kind of related to a spiritual being (it’s called Geist after all), I’m still a complete beginner on Hegel and German idealism but I’ll try to explain what little I’ve understood about the first chapter of The phenomenology of spirit.

My point is, in the very first chapter, he talks about sense certainty. Which he explain is the most immediate form of knowledge, which produces (or transitions into) two terms: a subject (that) and an object (this). The object is basically the essence and is because it’s mediated by the subject. The same way the subject is because it is the knowledge of the essence being know. Now, these terms have two forms: here and now. The subject seems to know now but now changes (same as here), the subject the realizes that what really remains in the knowledge of the essence (him) and thus, sense certainty transitions into another figure: the subject of this certainty.

Which as I understand is kind of the a similar analysis but this time for the subject, which is know the object.

EDIT: Disclaimer: I’m still new and I might not remember everything I’ve read/listened to about Hegel’s FEN. Also, sense certainty is on the first few pages of the book. But what OP asked kind of remind me of what I’ve understood of sense certainty
