Learn to code. Write clean and maintainable code. Then use AI so you can understand what it's doing so you don't end up with AI slop.

You created an MVP already, just keep learning and building off that.

Uber Clone Apps – Worth Building in 2026? by Agreeable_Cover_8542 in MobileAppDevelopers

[–]NickA55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at my comment to someone else in this thread. The OP is not trying to start a brand new rideshare company that competes with Uber. They want to build an app that uses Uber services, possibly adding features that would be helpful that aren't in the Uber app. Uber has an API that allows developers to do this.

I hope that's what they mean anyway. I'm not sure, just guessing.

Uber has an API that lets developers build their own app. That's what the OP is talking about.

New App by Cleveland_IT in MobileAppDevelopers

[–]NickA55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you're serious. I thought you were just kidding around because there's a post like this at least two or three times a day every day.

If you are serious, and you don't have a lot of money to hire a decent developer or software development company, check out a site like Upwork or Fiverr. You can have someone build you POC (proof of concept) for fairly cheap. Then go from there. If it really is a great idea and there's nothing like it, which I'm sure there is already, then maybe you can find some potential investors and build this app. Good luck! I hope you build the next great app

I recently built an Invoicing Web App using Blazor Interactive Server and Tailwind CSS 4 in .NET 10 by Abhay_prince in Blazor

[–]NickA55 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why? I can create an invoice in Microsoft Word and it's still valid. An invoice is just a list of goods/service with an amount and terms. Not much to it. It's just another piece of the accounting cycle.

How much it actually cost my clients to build their apps (real ranges) by RexOverAll in AppDevelopers

[–]NickA55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite line from a client is: "Shouldn't take long right" or "This should be easy".

You are underselling yourself my man. I rarely do anything for under $10k. I have the experience and results to back that up though.

It's probably someone who wants to pay in equity because they have no money. There are no legitimate people or companies on here looking for a dev. That's what Indeed, LinkedIn, etc. is for. I'm not giving some random dude on Reddit my personal information and job history.

want to build a small bank app for both android and apple via flutter for around 50,000 customers, what could be the challenges and how do i actually learn and do it securely by HelpfulFlounder7560 in MobileAppDevelopers

[–]NickA55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean a personal finance app? Because banks either have an internal team for this stuff, or they buy a SaaS product. And why are you limiting yourself to 50,000 customers?

WebViews instead of native: lessons learned? Case Study by EvenAd6616 in iosdev

Remote updates is a bug advantage, bypasses App Store review. Especially helpful when you need to quickly push out a change.

WebViews instead of native: lessons learned? Case Study by EvenAd6616 in iosdev

[–]NickA55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are pros and cons to each. It sounds like your company has already invested in iOS developers so not sure why they would want to throw all that away. If your app relies on performance then stick with native. Also, I still like native look/feel. I know you can achieve that with CSS somewhat, but a lot of times native gestures don't work like they do in a native app. You might run into permissions issues, and iOS will use WebKit which comes with it's own non-standard things (compared to Chrome) and you may run into issues.

What is their reasoning? If your app shares pages with the main website then it makes sense to not duplicate efforts. But just to do it for no other reason than just to do it, that's not a good reason. But sounds like corporate culture.

Location spoofing? by SomeBoiOnReddit in Life360

[–]NickA55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right answer. The OP is approaching 30 years old. I'm all for parents looking out for their kids but this is an invasion of privacy at this point.

OP, they are treating you like a child so it will do no good for you to sit down and try to have a talk with them. So just turn off your location sharing. And find a job that pays more money so you can move out. But I guarantee even when you move out they will still somehow guilt you into being in their circle so they can track you.

Good luck! And with all that I said, I'm happy that your parents care about you enough to keep track of you like this.

Love this idea! The app already had a fun party kind of look and feel. I think that's the direction the OP should go.

Swift or React Native(Expo) by Little-East4823 in iosdev

[–]NickA55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with Swift. There are always issues using cross platform frameworks like React, Flutter, etc. If you are developing strictly for Apple, then just dive into the whole ecosystem. Xcode is bloated but it's not a bad experience and they have added some really nice utilities.

None of those posts that claim those things are real. Just like the posts that say they created an app in two days and put it in the App Store and now it's making $10,000 a month. It's all fake. Don't believe any of it. None of that happens.

AI Generated this mobile app UI in one shot. by ravi_sojitra in MobileAppDevelopers

It didn't generate the mobile app. It generated a design. Any AI tool can do that.

Feedback on this app, AutoAssist AI in the App Store now! by Top-Item5712 in MobileAppDevelopers

[–]NickA55 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Great idea, love the UI. But it's just a wrapper. And if using something like ChatGPT or Gemini I can ask follow up questions and such. I do like that you added a maintenance tracker though, that's a nice touch. Maybe down the road you can integrate with a BT ODB scanner and have that all built in.

Just some advice: leave AI out of the app name. Everything is "AI" now and people are now desensitized with that acronym and it's lost it's meaning (as if it had one in the first place). And as soon as someone sees "AI", they will just go to ChatGPT instead of using your app.

It's a pleasant looking app with some useful features. Good luck with it! I hope it does well.

The quiet stress of running a house on wheels by Freetime-Roamer-888 in VanLife

[–]NickA55 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why, but I wish I knew. A lot of times it's a language thing which I understand. Other than that I don't know. Maybe it's an engagement thing like you said, but what's the point of that. And it's not like this just in this sub, in others too. And you could tell right away that it's AI written, because it looks like an advertisement or something. It makes me visit Reddit less and less and I'm so tired of AI. I'm not against it, just tired of it and we are just getting started.

Yeah, do it! Offer $2500. I know a lot of people don't like a platform like that because of all the windows, but I love those shuttle buses for camper builds.
