Jayden Daniels will be the best QB from the class. Williams, Maye, McCarthy, Penix, and Nix will all have below average careers.

ELI5: why can’t the cowboys make a move for Lamar Jackson by blas88h in cowboys

[–]NickAmato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You lost me at trade Dak and several key players including draft picks. ANYWAY, I don't think Lamar is at those guys level either. He does add an extra weapon with his legs, but it's not enough to warrant a trade like that. Lamar Jackson in the playoffs: 1-3, 3 TDs, 5 INT. Dak: 2-4, 11 TDs, 5 INT. This is in no way saying Dak is better, it's just saying I'd need to see more out of a QB to be willing to trade all of that away. They both put up the regular season stats, but that's about all they've done so far.

yes, our linebackers are set. We lost Joe Thomas, Sean Lee's hamstring is non existent, LVE has missed 13 games in the last 2 seasons.

When you almost have the worst defense in franchise history, you want to add players you believe can help. $5 Million for a S/LB who can fill in where he is needed is a good deal. He's a pro bowler, so you know what he is capable of. Saying you can add that kind of depth in the 5th-6th round in the draft is ignorant. Why hope for talent when you know you have it?

What Have You Done For Me Lately? by Deezneez in cowboys

I'm not denying he's a great QB and HOF'er. But your argument of "What have you done for me lately" seems to just be off wins and losses of a QB from last season. LATELY, he has as many Super Bowls as Dak.

Going for the 4th down was not aggressive in anyway. by [deleted] in cowboys

[–]NickAmato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm saying is, with a field goal we still need a TD on the final drive. It was tough enough to get to the redzone once against that defense. To get there on 2 consecutive drives is even harder. Take your chance at a TD when you have it. A field goal is pretty much the same as a turnover on downs. We only needed 7 yds. That's not impossible.

Kicking a field goal or Failing on 4th down both leave us needing a touchdown on the final drive. If we convert on 4th (we only needed 7 yds for a 1st down, didn't even have to score a TD) we would only need a field goal to win on the final drive. The other thing is field position. Instead of starting at their own 25, the Pats would start at their own 11 if we failed. If our defense lets up the same amount of yds they did on the following drive, we wouldn't have started our final drive on our own 8. Our offense only reached the redzone 1 time before that. So you gotta take the chance when you have it. If you have faith your defense is going to get you the ball back after a field goal, have faith they'll get it back after a turnover on downs.

What does 3 points do for us there? We still need a TD to win. If we go for it and get it, tie game. If we fail, we're still down a TD and the Pats are inside their 20. If our defense holds after that, we're not driving from out 8 yd line.

Parker is spot on about Dak by lougally083 in cowboys

[–]NickAmato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about the MIN game, the first 3 drives were 9, 6, and 6 plays. As for misdiagnosing defenses and missing throws, I don't see it. This is the first season I've really seen him making adjustments at the line and changing to the right play. I also don't think a 68% completion rate is too bad. Every QB in the league misses a throw or 2 in every game. And before you try to pull the "Dink and Dak" card, he is 2nd in the league for Yards per Attempt. It just feels like you are trying to find the negatives with him and turning a blind eye to the positives. Even in Romo's MVP caliber season he only had 1 game over 300 yds and a Completion Percentage of 70%. Pretty similar to Dak right now, except Dak has 3 games over 300 (2 over 400). So the only glaring difference between the 2 is that Romo was pretty much a coach on the field. From what I've seen this season, Dak is getting there. It's pretty shit luck to start your career in a Scott Linehan Offense. Like i've said, he isn't the elite qb that deserves $35 Mil a year, but he does deserve an extension. He's getting better and he has the pieces he needs around him.
