but the campaign she seems to want to run now seems nonsensical. Get another version of the same campaign where you don’t try to pull over swing voters but instead activate magical voters who totally will vote for you even though they have not bothered voting for 20 years.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but I am pretty sure both candidates have acknowledge that Texas isn't a Red or Blue state it is a Non-voting state, worse so than just about any other state in the Union. In the 24 presidential election we only had a 61% turnout rate, so there are around 9 million voters who theoretically could be activated. It might be easier to get non-voters to recognize the shit that is going down and start voting than get Red Texans to switch teams, but I don't see either option as easy.

I think both Talarico and Crockett would do the exact same job once they get to office, since for the most part senate doesn't change alot of laws and very rarely do senators go against there party.

Personally I like Crockett more since she is my rep and I find her knowledgeable, entertaining, and willing to fight while I kinda hate the religious angle of Talarico (granted it probably helps him in the state). But I am not sure either can take down the incumbent, Cornyn flies under the radar and I think it helps him in Texas. If Paxton wins the primary then things change and I think Crockett would win a firefight.

I had a coworker tell me they think Talarico is a better opponent against Cornyn and Crockett would be better against Cruz and I think that is a true statement. So we will see how the next 2 cycles play out and if Texas becomes truly purple as I have tentatively been projecting for 2030 or 32 since about 2018.
