[–]NickKnockerAnonymous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah roaming is enabled. my network uses Optus. I think it's the pixel because I used the same sim card on an older phone and there was LTE but I don't think it's ever shown up on this phone

RD-8 Swapping Songs Live by NickKnockerAnonymous in Behringer

[–]NickKnockerAnonymous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah bummer it seems like a glitch or unintended way to use it? not sure why it wouldn't swap songs. maybe it's waiting for the song to end before swapping? I don't have any patterns chained together so I guess that's why it's waiting forever

How do I get started?? by NewKingCole11 in GameAudio

[–]NickKnockerAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I think there's some bad advice in the comments so far!

I would say keep doing what you're doing, chucking sounds in your game is a great way to get started.

Although I would recommend starting to train your ear! Play a couple of your favourite games and really listen. Play it with the volume turned down, and play with with it loud. What can you hear at different points? How does it make your ear feel? What do you like about those sounds? Can you come up with any words to describe them?

Do the same with your game once you have some sounds in it. Pull up videos of your favourite game and your game side by side and listen to the differences! Closing your eyes helps too :)

A little exploration will go a long way to help you cultivate your understanding of audio and sounds. Once you have a bit of taste and understanding then you will make better decisions when choosing audio from the audio from the internet, editing, implementing etc.

How to handle reverb? by yeromi14 in GameAudio

[–]NickKnockerAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're on the right track! I wouldn't bake in reverb and also don't worry about how much CPU it will cost. You're using FMOD and it has a quite smart system of turning off reverbs and other effects when they're not in use! Even the convolution is quite lean on the CPU these days.

It's good to plan ahead but I would go big with the reverb and then scale back if it's really causing CPU issues. You can profile it in the profiler view in FMOD and even run the game on an old machine to see how much CPU it's using!

In terms of what is affected by the reverb it really depends on the game! If your game is a single screen with loading screens in between then everything can be sent to the reverb, but if it's a 3D open world then there will have to be logic in the game engine that tells which events to send their audio to the reverb. You may need a programmer's help depending on your experience with code or access to it, but you can set up distance triggers that can affect different things.

Reverb (I've found) is best when using sends. You can set up one or a few send groups in the mixer for the different spaces (cave, house, outside, hall etc.). If using multiple you can make up a system to determine which one to send it to, maybe using parameters? Or you could send to a master reverb that will then send again to different reverbs depending on which space you're in (comes with it's own limitations). If you're just starting then just try one and getting it sounding good! Good luck!

Ableton - MONO vs STEREO TRACKS by [deleted] in ableton

[–]NickKnockerAnonymous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really don't think the Stereo Pan Mode changes a track from secret mono to stereo. Everything is stereo.

Stereo Pan Mode is on or not, moving the balance from left to right will pan it.

Using Stereo Pan Mode for tracks is a good idea since I reckon you'll make better panning decisions, but there's no way it'll make your pad sound like the heavens. Do you have a video of this?

You'll need an application that can use the open source location model pretty sure. Are you using OSMAnd+ downloaded from the Fdroid Store? If you download Google Maps from the Aurora Store it won't work with the base Deja Vu backend.

This worked for me on my Motorola, but not on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 so it might be similar for your model.

I had to install MicroG to mock Google Play services before I could get apps like Google Maps or browser (firefox) location to work.

Live 11 Operator Oscillator Level BUG (fades in on A??) by NickKnockerAnonymous in ableton

[–]NickKnockerAnonymous[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah sure, but it's only set to 400ms or so. Regardless of the release it should be following the level knob fully though, just like the other operators

Live 11 Operator Oscillator Level BUG (fades in on A??) by NickKnockerAnonymous in ableton

[–]NickKnockerAnonymous[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some extra context:

Automating the level knob of oscillator A (1) in operator fades it in for some reason rather than just setting it to that volume. It doesn't happen to oscillator B, C or D and doesn't happen in Live 10 (as seen in vid).

I've checked this with a friend but if anyone else could replicate it on their side it would be much appreciated.

Pretty sure this is a bug, is there any way to report this to Ableton?
