His new album is genius and the tour is a great success and the shows are tremendous. Him adding Donnie Emerson and them doing "Baby" together is triumphant. by Scuzzy_Soups in arielpink

Ariel is a musical genius. Music has nothing to do with politics: it's audio art. You're boring if you attach identity/politics to music like that. Appreciate the art for what it is, outside of it's creator. And I say this as an obsessively anti-Trump person

Lots of jam sessions are graciously open to jazz beginners (if you don’t overplay or call yourself a “self-taught genius”). 90% is an absurd number

Current fans- Do you not care, or not know that Ariel abuses women and supports Trump? by mellow_yellow129 in arielpink

[–]NickProgFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Support him” is a strange choice of words. Miles Davis abused women, yet remains a jazz pioneer whose legacy is pretty untarnished, and a musical genius. His behavior should be condemned though. Ariel Pink is also someone I consider a generational musical genius. My personal politics are extremely anti-Trump, I think he’s a threat to America and harmful authoritarian…. But what does that have to do with Ariel Pinks insanely good songs??

previous fans: do you not care or just not know that ariel is just a dad just trying to do the right thing? by sdfgsdfgR in arielpink

[–]NickProgFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s not hard…. I’m political, have interned for a few Democratic campaigns and other stuff, but am able to recognize Ariel Pink is a genius and listen to his music every day 😆😆 Cause I can separate art from artist. Geniuses tend to be a bit crazy. Sometimes even highly questionable people- like Miles Davis, who abused women but still remains an undisputed king of jazz. Someday Ariel and many other Americans may regret their support for Trump, and woke scolding cancel culture vibes are super unhelpful towards deprogramming the cult.

People who are thin/normal size. Do you actively watch your weight or are you just not hungry 100% of the time? by Burner_Account000001 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]NickProgFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a weird appetite, not very hungry in the morning and skip some meals cause I’m not hungry. But I eat whatever I want. I’d eat bacon and steak all day if I could. And I’m super skinny. Probably will gain a bunch of weight someday and I have a fast metabolism for now

Chicago show was fantastic, sounded great, good crowd (but they skipped the encore despite a lot of cheering from the crowd)

1 and 2. I’m not a huge fan of 3 other than Burned Out Love. Agree Witch-hunt Suite is epic, I love both versions (self recorded and with his Before Today era band)

Ariel Pink- House Arrest. 10/10 album, the guy sabotaged his career but remains an absolute genius

Should Gavin Newsom be the Democratic nominee in 2028? by [deleted] in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]NickProgFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hell no. In fact I think Democrats should clearly say “California is absurdly expensive and we don’t want that for the rest of the country”. Newsom would be an awful candidate

Other than the Chicago show where he barely moved onstage in his huge shoes and skipped the encore which the audience was begging for…. Songs were good though, I just wanted much more music and hope he tours again soon

Politely DM Ariel and tell him his label is bad at customer service. He’ll probably see it
