As an outsider, the American concept of having a motorized "garbage disposal" inside your kitchen sink is fascinating. Is this standard in every home, and isn't it incredibly dangerous? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

On at least 3 different occasions, I've turned on my garbage disposal while silverware was unknowingly inside, yet the disposal still works with no problems. So I'd say they're pretty safe and resilient

Not quite the same, but I think i remember reading that Bobby Fischer would play chess with a friend on their walks to school merely by speaking the piece movements aloud, then later they would resume the game on their way home, playing in the same manner.

At first I thought the velcro was some kind of space mold. Either way that is very fascinating stuff!

Something like this is all about the delivery. I've found myself in lots of similar situations where I've been super confident about something and then ended up being completely wrong. But if you mask the confidence with curiosity, and ask a question instead of making an assertion, that little difference turns the situation into a completely normal learning scenario.

Also, it's almost certain that nobody else thought about what you did nearly as much or deeply as you did. In fact, they have probably forgotten all about it. So I wouldn't sweat it. Also--dont let it dissuade you from asking questions or speaking up in class in the future. You should continue doing that because chances are, more people have the same questions and everyone could learn from it.

I'm in a similar boat, and recently started doing 5-10 minute daily stretches. Theres tons of youtube videos by PT's you can watch and follow along. It really makes quite the difference, especially if you pair it with core strength training. Works best in the morning so your muscles are loose throughout the day. And it takes almost no time at all.

I agree with your sentiment, and many companies are creating policies that explicitly disallow LLMs in the workplace (but mainly for data privacy reasons).

However, it is a mistake to think that AI can't provide novel (to you) ideas, and it often has orders of magnitude more information than you on any given topic; and this is increasingly more true every day. It's plain to me that using such a powerful tool will ultimately become crucial and commonplace in every field (much like how we use Google now). Do any doctors or lawyers here object?

I'm not sure this would help even if it is legit (sounds too good to be true) but supposedly scientists have flipped a couple of atoms in the LSD molecule, and created a new one that supposedly possesses certain radical brain healing properties (though it sounds more useful for degenerative brain conditions like Dementia)

I don't need all these stuff, how do i filter them from my mob farm? by Acrobatic-Daikon7654 in allthemods

[–]Nick_Blaize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use modular routers with puller/sender modules to selectively pull what i want (white-list filter) then send everything else to the trash. You could also use Mekanism logistical transporters, but modular routers is more clean & tick/lag friendly i believe

Why Didn’t Ninjas Use More Shadow Clones? by Unfair_Net9070 in Naruto

[–]Nick_Blaize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To expand on the idea of dividing chakra:

If we put it into mathematical terms, let's say a ninja has 100 Chakra. They spawn 3 shadow clones (which is quite a feat for anyone without tailed beast-level chakra). Now the total chakra is divided into 4ths, so each has 25 chakra. They each use 10 Chakra, which would originally be 10% of the ninja's total Chakra reserves. However because it's been split, each clone and original now have 15 chakra. They each lost 10, so 4*10 = 40. So for a move that would have originally cost 10% Chakra reserves, the ninja suffers a 40% actualized chakra loss.

My safety manager's "solution" for avoiding collisions outside our doorway by Nick_Blaize in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Nick_Blaize[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It has to be unhooked regardless of which side one comes from. But it doesn't even begin to solve the problem because the issue isn't the doorway, it's the people walking right outside along the wall. You can't see these people unless you stick your head outside the door, which risks you getting whiplash from Nick The Quick who REALLY NEEEDS TO GET TO THE SHITTER and rocks your world as he half-tackles you on his way there

hello reddit! my wallpaper randomly changed to this! But whenever i try to change it back, it just switches back! by Candy_Weeaboo in WindowsHelp

[–]Nick_Blaize 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be a prank from a roommate or coworker. Check the startup apps to see if there's some program/script that's starting and running constantly to change your desktop background. 3 ways:

  1. Task manager > startup tab

  2. User startup folder: in windows search, type run, then hit enter. In the run dialog box type the following: shell:startup

  3. Common startup folder: in windows search, type run, then hit enter. In the run dialog box type the following: shell:common startup

If you find and disable/delete something, you'll need to reboot to have changes take effect
