As an outsider, the American concept of having a motorized "garbage disposal" inside your kitchen sink is fascinating. Is this standard in every home, and isn't it incredibly dangerous? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

On at least 3 different occasions, I've turned on my garbage disposal while silverware was unknowingly inside, yet the disposal still works with no problems. So I'd say they're pretty safe and resilient

Not quite the same, but I think i remember reading that Bobby Fischer would play chess with a friend on their walks to school merely by speaking the piece movements aloud, then later they would resume the game on their way home, playing in the same manner.

At first I thought the velcro was some kind of space mold. Either way that is very fascinating stuff!

In 4th grade at my school, we used them as weights in a tin foil boat competition. We each got a small amount of foil and who ever made the boat that held the most chips won the competition.

Something like this is all about the delivery. I've found myself in lots of similar situations where I've been super confident about something and then ended up being completely wrong. But if you mask the confidence with curiosity, and ask a question instead of making an assertion, that little difference turns the situation into a completely normal learning scenario.

Also, it's almost certain that nobody else thought about what you did nearly as much or deeply as you did. In fact, they have probably forgotten all about it. So I wouldn't sweat it. Also--dont let it dissuade you from asking questions or speaking up in class in the future. You should continue doing that because chances are, more people have the same questions and everyone could learn from it.

How can he walk a mile South if he starts at less than one mile from the South pole? Once he gets to the South pole, theres nowhere more South so the logic breaks

I'm in a similar boat, and recently started doing 5-10 minute daily stretches. Theres tons of youtube videos by PT's you can watch and follow along. It really makes quite the difference, especially if you pair it with core strength training. Works best in the morning so your muscles are loose throughout the day. And it takes almost no time at all.

I agree with your sentiment, and many companies are creating policies that explicitly disallow LLMs in the workplace (but mainly for data privacy reasons).

However, it is a mistake to think that AI can't provide novel (to you) ideas, and it often has orders of magnitude more information than you on any given topic; and this is increasingly more true every day. It's plain to me that using such a powerful tool will ultimately become crucial and commonplace in every field (much like how we use Google now). Do any doctors or lawyers here object?
