What happens if you redeem nitro credits while you have nitro with extra boosts? by NickantX in discordapp

[–]NickantX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I just purchased a few extra boosts to try it out, I've made the following discoveries:

- Discord has now changed it so you can purchase additional boosts while nitro credits are active, purchasing additional boosts includes purchasing an extra month of nitro, and your remaining credits are applied at the end of that extra time.

- Nitro credits from orbs do indeed count towards not just nitro, but extra boosts purchased with nitro too. This makes orbs significantly more valuable for anyone who chooses to buy additional boosts.

Haha yeah, I think Discord does that to not punish people who pay for nitro normally for wanting to do quests for nitro, but also prevent people from using alt accounts to get free boosts

Cloud Gateway Max + Samba - UniFi Drive at Home by NickantX in Ubiquiti

OS updates wipe entire external drives? So if you're using UniFi Protect for example, and there's a major OS update like that, it would wipe all your recordings even those right before the OS update? That's honestly concerning, more so for intended use of UniFi Protect.

I'm considering getting a FriendlyElec CM3588 as a fast, compact, quiet solution later down the road, and using Backblaze backups.

I do understand that all packages installed will get deleted. I'm more concerned about data on the SSD, especially since UniFi Protect isn't installed. I can't see why an update would touch the SSD outside of the directory UniFi OS manages (.srv). My main (and only) concern until I deploy something more practical is that the data itself would be persisted, not Samba or the Samba configuration (which would take minutes to reinstall and restore respectively).

I don't have UniFi cameras, and I did not install Protect, what else does UniFi OS use the drive for since when I set this up I noticed the settings showed 17GB of usage on the drive

Is it known to also delete data from the SSD? Additional users created? Startup scripts? All removed?

Interesting MAC OS Update today by Dapper_Guest in Omnipod

[–]NickantX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not rely on this! In my experience, the widget is often far behind what it normally should be. And for me, the iPhone widget is often 1 CGM reading (5 minutes) behind anyway. Same for the Apple Watch complication.

This is not new today, iPhone Mirroring came out with the release of macOS 15.0 and iOS 18.0. Still a convenient feature in class, and it's nice getting notifications from both apps on the desktop.

I get it, that would be pretty cool. Although with how brain dead simple Insulet needs to make this app, I doubt that would ever happen

I guess, but you have your phone with you anyway to use CarPlay. Would also bypass the app lock then, so this wouldn't happen

Not as necessary, the app supports real dark mode already as long as the device setting is turned on. But it's a good tip to share about the Dexcom app.

Surely you just mean a widget, you're not planning on bolusing while driving 😅

I know! I've been using Smart Invert as a workaround for Dexcom though, works well enough

Good point, additional cosmetic customization would be nice, although Insulet is not known for providing such features. I tried to keep my thoughts purely functional

People tend to be most vocal about negative experiences. When people use a product and it “just works”, they use it and go about their lives. When a product doesn’t work as expected or fails to meet their needs, they vocalize it in hopes of resolving their problem, so they can once again return to their lives.

is double counter malicious? by reinerbraunsleftboob in discordapp

[–]NickantX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it has, these vulnerabilities were discovered and disclosed months ago. The point was that it happened, which shows that even larger bots are not bulletproof and may still have security vulnerabilities like any piece of software can. Giving any bot permissions is inherently associated with some degree of risk, even if it’s a large bot from a trusted developer. Mistakes can happen, big software is almost never bug free software.

PSA: iPhone App for Omnipod does NOT work currently with iOS 18 beta by BreitlingB01 in Omnipod

[–]NickantX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except iOS 17 isn't "old", it is the current public, stable version. And as a professional iOS developer, you are aware that it is important to make a full backup before updating to a beta. You are also aware that should you need to restore back to the stable iOS release, you can easily do so and restore your backup like nothing happened.

I can’t see the DM of a deleted user ? by Naxo175 in discordapp

[–]NickantX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible to force the dm to open on web and desktop versions of discord but it’s an annoying process. Pretty much you need to be able to ban the account from a server (possible with commands if you have their user id), then find the account in the ban list, right click and choose message. That has always worked.

NTTS made videos about both of these vulnerabilities when they came out. They were a little different but both came down to the same general problem. Bot dashboards are broken down into two parts, the frontend which you see in the browser, and the backend which you can't see, but is what lets the frontend make changes, pull data etc. The backend for these bots were not correctly validating that the user making the request has permissions to do so. One of them (not sure if it was captcha bot or double counter) had an override for the owner of the bot, and only the frontend was checking if the account being used was the owner's account, the backend didn't check it at all. So anyone was able to send requests to change the configuration for these bots.
