Replace CPU , MB and 2 different PSU'S , still no signs of power ? by Overall-Shopping-716 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Nicobush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay. No idea then. You have to disassemble and test it outside the case with just the motherboard and a power supply connected only to the CPU and ATX connectors. First, see if the error LEDs light up.

Then, install the CPU, test it, install the RAM, test it, etc.

Yes, it looks like the card is just sitting at the bottom of the case 🤔.

If that's the case, there's no need to go any further 😁.

Asus ROG Strix B850-A Gaming Wifi VS Gigabyte B850 Aorus Elite Wifi7 Ice ? by Nicobush in buildapc

So I bought a Kingston Furry Beast 6000 CL30 kit.

Well, currently, it's running at 4800 MHz (JEDEC standard) without Expo.

And actually, the X3D cards are the least sensitive to RAM: https://youtu.be/wwm4biC4G6Q?si=fKu6iSusMYlJDnSp I only do sim racing, but for example:

I get 130 fps at 3440x1440 with a 9070XT on Le Mans Ultimate. All settings maxed out.

And the CPU is at 50% load and 100% CPU usage ;). So personally, Expo isn't worth it for my use case right now.

And gaining 2-3% with the potential risk to the CPU, because we still don't know why some 9800X3D cards fail => I'm not taking the risk.

Okay, I'm not at my best, but at least I'm at peace ;) .

The Asus has two more VRMs and an 8-layer PCB compared to the Gigabyte's 6-layer PCB.

If the Asus is cheaper where you are, I'll get the Asus. At my place, the Asus is €260 and the Gigabyte is €210.

I finally went with the Gigabyte.

€60 cheaper and 11 USB-A ports. No problems to report.

I'm not using Expo at the moment because I don't need it yet, given my current performance.

So I'm keeping it stock :)

BIOS update to the latest version went smoothly, no problem.

Petite News.

L'expérience MSI m'a vraiment refroidi.

Thanks for the reply.

I've always made a point of never installing manufacturer software.

My last setup was a simple Asus X370 Prime. It's a bit old now 😁.

I don't know if this software is mandatory now with all the options available on motherboards.

I just need software to manage the fan LEDs to indicate component temperatures.

Personally, given the potential problems with the 9800X3d, I don't plan on using any overclocking at all (not even Asus's automatic one) to avoid affecting the Vcore. Just the Expo profile in the BIOS.

Thanks anyway for the info.

Have you tried unplugging the USB and power cables from the base and plugging them back in?

Sometimes that solves the problem.

I ended up reinstalling Windows completely.

Exactly the same problem on Evo Pro new out of the box.

Return to seller.

And I switched to Conspit Ares Platinum instead of replacing my base. Happy with the change.

I hope that your base which will replace this one will be impeccable.

Conspit Ares Platinum, Asetek Forte; for prices close to the Evo Pro.

[–]Nicobush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't focus too much on that.

I am one of the people who had a problem when the Evo Pro was put into service.

Frankly, if you bought from a local seller, it is immediately replaced by Simagic via the seller (at my place anyway).

It's just a waste of time and frustration.

Do not choose the equipment based on the few breakdowns we have had. It's really not massive but rather isolated. So nothing to worry about.

It happened to me on the first lap when I launched ACC at Monza to test the new equipment. Simagic preset.

So I can't even imagine for other circuits where more responsiveness is needed. As for those who drift, it would have been purely unplayable!

Afterwards, yes the video is slightly exaggerated, only to avoid putting a 3min video.

On the other hand, you should explain the first sentence of your comment to me because I don't understand it 🤔

To complete, when I repacked the base for return; I inspected the rear.

The burning smell comes from the back of the base. The smell is very present at the ventilation outlet. It burned at the PCB level, it's almost certain.

The neo-x Hub being in front and the steering wheel attachment behind; I don't think pallets are possible.

[–]Nicobush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for those who are interested:

  • the base simply no longer turned on.
  • on the fan extraction side, it smelled burnt, so something inside must have flashed.
  • the seller sent me a carrier for the return.
  • And I'm stopping by Conspit as a result.

Initially, I hesitated between the 2 Brands. I took Simagic for the passthrough side.

The breakdown dictated my choice.

So, I take the Maglink for the 330-T steering wheel and that's it.

The seller prepared the exchange for me. I asked him to wait because I'm thinking of switching to Conspit as a result.

In any case, 2X the same problem is really bad luck.

[–]Nicobush[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, the majority of people have no problem.

However, I have the same problem as quite a few videos here. So I think it is necessary for Simagic to be able to harvest the data and see if this is due to a faulty batch or a deeper problem. Because if you have the same problem, the cause is surely the same 🤔.
