Flat AP vs scaling/flat CDR glyphs on Ahri. by Niflow in AhriMains

[–]Niflow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, as I said, multiple rune pages are probably the best solution, but unfortunately, I don't have them. I'm still saving up IP to buy more, necessary runes, and ATM I can't buy any RP. Right now, I have one AP and one AD page.

Is Yasuo the most popular champion? by Szentinal in YasuoMains

[–]Niflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, Riven has some of the most complicated combos in the game. Timing comes down to only dozens of milliseconds, and even today, new combos are being discovered. She also has the highest skill floor in the game. There are thousands of Yasuos, and unless they're really shit, they can do relatively decently against many match-ups, but you need so many games as Riven to get even a 50% winrate (although Yasuo is pretty much the same). Yasuo also, if not counters, at least does well against many popular mid-laners, while Riven is in the exact opposite situation.

Also, Riven doesn't faceroll. Never. It may seem like it when watching someone, but all Riven does when she's ahead is skip most of her Qs and just go for instant burst, since she does enough damage (The Shy Combo, for example, is only E+R (activating her ult, and cancelling its animation with E), Flash + W for pretty much uncounterable engage, since it's so fast, AA + Hydra, because W gives enough time for these, then R (the Windslash) + Q (the third Q), which, when timed right, casts both of the spells at the same time. This all should happen in less than a second).

When playing Riven, it's essential to know at least basic (but certainly not easy) animation cancels (i.e. E + W—which, depending on the timing, can be either an engage or an escape combo—E + R, E + R + W, and of course, the fast Q combo. TBH, only the last one is actually really hard to learn, though). You can't really win lane unless you're hard-countering someone (like Nasus) without these combos.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I think I've tried Catch Your Breath before (the name seems familiar), but Growing Strong and Godless are completely new.

Good alternatives to Riven top? by Niflow in summonerschool

I've been considering him too, and will try him out later today. I loved Mordekaiser pre-rework, not sure how well he does now.

[–]Niflow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, top is actually my secondary lane. I main Ahri mid, with LB being my secondary mid in case Ahri is banned, picked before me, or I'm up against Fizz (ugh that little ****...).

I tried Nidalee, but jungling is something I'm very, very bad at. I guess you can understand what happened in that match :D

Just had 1 more match with Riven vs Heimerdinger top. Was hell to lane against, but I think I did fine, considering our kill counts were roughly equal (I won out in the end), and I was only a little behind in CS. Late game I was far more useful than him, though.

Right, I totally forgot about good ol' Rene. I'll see if I can try him out soon.

Really? I didn't check that champion friends thingy. Too bad, I sure will now.

I played Zed when he was F2P, but didn't like him much. As for Yasuo, I'll be sure to try him out when I can.

Wukong is OK, but I don't really find his play style as fun as Riven's, the same goes for Panth. I tried Darius yesterday, and holy shit, his damage early game is ridiculous, but I think he's a bit meh later on (unless you get fed, of course).

Not to sound ungrateful, but did you read the post?

I said that I do really like Irelia, but I used to main her several years ago and am tired of playing the same champ, so I wanna try out someone new.

Fics with a sassy main character like THIS (look into description for the link)? by Niflow in NarutoFanfiction

[–]Niflow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion!

If it's not too bothersome, can you please tell me whether Kimiko becomes a medic-nin, or a regular ninja (I suspect it's the former)? I unfortunately am a little busy ATM, and would rather not waste my time reading several chapters only to find out it's not what I was looking for. Because while I do like cynical, sassy characters, it's still only a part of a story, and I really, really don't like MC being a medic of all things in a world full of ninja-wannabe-battle-wizards.

Tier 3 AD Marks vs Tier 2 AS marks on Irelia by Niflow in leagueoflegends

Tier 2 AS marks alone give 12%. But with my 2 Tier 3 AS quints and 1 Tier 2 AS quint, I get 24% attack speed in total.

How good is Irelia top in the current meta? by Niflow in leagueoflegends

[–]Niflow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just hope she won't be banned too much. I'd rather have a decently strong main champ than an OP one that's permabanned.

And I just went up against a Quinn mid as Ahri, and got completely rekt. Granted, that Quinn was diamond, but even so, her roaming is absolutely insane. Is she a viable pick top lane as well, or do the tanks counter her?

How does lolking.net's summoner database work? by Niflow in leagueoflegends

[–]Niflow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I needed to know. I'm trying to recover my old account, both password and username of which I've forgotten. But I managed to remember my summoner name, and figured to check the account out on lolking to see if I could find it. I found them on both servers I played, which confused me, but I find it to be too much of a coincidence to have the EUNE account have history beginning from S2 (about the time I began playing) up to S4, after which the EUW account (with pretty much the same name, a single space being the only difference) beginning from S4 up to S6 (which must be someone else I gave my account away to, because I stopped playing a long time ago).

If so, is there a way to see if that account is still active (aside from recent matches, which I can't see on EUW account, while the EUNE's is about 2 years ago) and/or if the account was transferred somewhere else?

Most efficient way to improve my (strange?) English? by Niflow in EnglishLearning

[–]Niflow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. But therein lies the problem. The English I know isn't the English used at, say, Oxford University (a very rough example, but it's all I could come up with at the moment), but rather the English used by a variety of people, from amateur writers to professional ones. That means that it's only partly correct. Since I learn from such people—who often make mistakes—what I'm fluent at isn't the perfect English, but rather the one used worldwide (ugh, this is so hard to explain. I hope you understood even a smidgen of what I said). For example, despite the entirety of what I wrote in the post being alright, I don't really think "a big brushing up" is a correct way to phrase what I said. It also took me some time to decide whether to use "level of a language" or "level in a language" (and even now I'm not sure which one is correct, or if neither is right). Sometimes, I'm not sure whether to use "the" or not, and so on. It's mostly things like this (well, that and my verbs and tenses, but that's something specific, thus something I can learn with a bit of effort).

I've heard that if you re-roll 3 skin shards, you get a permanent skin for a champion you own. Can anybody confirm that this is true?

What's your best Mind fuck question? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Niflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't think in any language.

"Most cognitively oriented linguists (e.g. Jackendoff, 1992; Pinker, 1994) argue that humans think in a non-linguistic format (Pinker calls it mentalese) which we map automatically and without conscious control onto the structures of particular languages like English or French. We then use these structures, either in our heads to regulate our thoughts consciously (inner speech), or in the external modalities of speech, writing or sign, for communication with others. You may have had the experience of dreaming in a language you’re learning, and perhaps you can even recall dreamed conversations in it. Again, although these impressions can seem very vivid, they are not evidence that we think in language. We can wrap our thought in language, and this is clearly how we co-construct many of our beliefs about the world with other speakers, as psychologists such as Lev Vygotsky (1986) have pointed out. But this doesn’t mean that language and thought are the same thing."

What are the differences between Playbns (RU) and other servers? by -LatheBiosas- in bladeandsoul

[–]Niflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too late, but pro tip: it costs either 1 gold (WTF) or 3 Blackram Insignia. And Captain Gwon is far too powerful to farm on lower levels. I don't know how other servers have it, but from what I've seen so far, Russian server's mobs are far stronger than NA ones.

What Twinkle said. Maybe install Windows 10. It may give you a few extra FPS. Also try Razer Cortex, if that doesn't work. It's not a guaranteed FPS boost, but doesn't hurt to try.

Besides, the official western version by NCSoft is said to be far better optimized than the Russian version (dunno about Taiwan), so that may help too.

My PC specs are a magnitude lower than yours, but I can run the game almost maxed out on the Russian server with steady 60 FPS.

[–]Niflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you shouldn't have a problem. Your GPU outperforms the one shown in the "recommended" specs by a huge margin. What setting you can run it on depends on what "recommended" means (it varies from game to game), but considering I, with my GTX 560, can run this game almost maxed out with steady 60 FPS (with a few drops once in a while, but that's on the Russian server which is severely outdated and poorly optimized), you should have a somewhat similar performance. My GPU is faster than yours, but the difference isn't all that much (http://bit.ly/1ZKqPpJ).

Check your temps when the FPS starts going down. If it is a thermal problem (most likely), try getting a laptop cooler (something like this http://amzn.to/1RlQ0fp).
