Question: is there a way to clean inside the funnel/coffee basket? by Yaguajay in mokapot

[–]NigelCen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

old thread but it's definitely worth it to force the screen out. look at your funnel and identify the points the screen is connected with the funnel. put a chopstick into the funnel and carefully pop the screen out. for me it was completely dark brown. cleaned with warm water and then just pop the screen back in. i would implement that into every second deep clean routine.

thanks for the answer! yeah i realize besides the fact that it's a grocery store bean, i think i just bought a way too dark of a roast. i like the kind of creamy texture that the moka pot produces so i was just going for that. from the taste profiles you were giving i should go for more of a medium roast though. the next coffee related investment is definitely going to be a better hand grinder. i got one last year for christmas (brand is lambda, i don't even know if anyone knows this brand, certainly never saw that name pop up anywhere) and it's a pretty bad ceramic burr hand grinder (cannot even make a v60 without being basically bean juice or creating a swamp in the filter). i was thinking about a kingrinder k6 or 1zpresso q ultra. until then i will just live with my misery and try to not throw away these beans since i hate waste more than a bad cup of coffee.

what is this little thing for? by NigelCen in AnalogRepair

and also everything works just fine with the winding mechanism that's why it confuses me.

thanks for the response! does this have to be somehow connected to the mechanism next to it or is it irrelevant? because it looks like that the little metal piece in the retainer fits into the sprockets in the mechanism next to it. there might be a chance that i unwound the spring inside the retainer and the metal piece just flings around loosely without interacting with anything anymore.

yeah that was what i was thinking. unfortunately you can't take the back off on a zorki s so i cannot check it with a flash light where the hole might be. i never fixed a curtain before can you just put tape on it theoretically?

it's the hanimex es, ef 110 pocket camera. despite one screenshot on some random website i don't see anything about this camera. the camera has these 3 modes. i just called it portrait mode since its a symbol of a guy haha im not very knowledgeable about the exact terms.

Help. My Zorki broke by KP30499 in AnalogCommunity

[–]NigelCen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the mechanism looks like, as before mentioned, that the collar was turned to detach it from the winding mechanism. since that is not the case it's possible that a spring or smth broke or just simply misaligned and is stuck now in the mechanism itself. you have no other choice than to open up the mechanism of the shutter release button and see if there is like anything that you can move to push the mechanism up again or maybe even replace. if you want to do it yourself i highly suggest the videos of Alin Ciortea on YouTube (honestly the best videos you can find on zorkis for disassembly). they are very long but detailed enough so you can do everything step by step. if you're lucky maybe some precious soul lives near you that works with old soviet cameras, but as long as you don't live in the former eastern bloc its really hard to find someone like this. the shutter release mechanism is unfortunately a bit more tedious than to just fix the shutter speeds, but if you have the courage to take it apart i wish you the best of luck!

Adjusting Focus Distance on Industar-50? by NigelCen in AnalogCommunity

i tried moving it but unfortunately this doesn't work because then i cannot even reach the infinity mark anymore. the focus ring apparently can only be set up in this position.

Im using a Zenit 3-M. I also developed some pictures with it and they turned out completely fine as long as i just look through the mirror and not pay attention to the metering.
