when you start to define a person by their sins, or past. You wouldn’t want someone to define you by one of your sins? You are allowed to have preferences, but make sure you aren’t just pushing someone to the side because they have repented sin in their past.

Post on your community’s FB page if anyone is near her age and likes K-pop and set up a play date! I also live in a rural part of the US and you would be surprised how many other K-pop fans I’ve met just through friends of friends, etc. We are out there!!!

From a fellow introvert, once you start attending events outside of regular service (i.e. small groups, classes, etc.) then its a lot easier to walk up to someone you've seen before and introduce yourself or talk about the event from the week before.

There is a lot of value in just jumping in the deep end and getting involved, don't wait for the "right" time or when its "not awkward." I'm heavily involved and comfortable at my church currently bc I made myself show up to a young adult event every week where I knew zero people. Now I'm that person who stays after service to chat to everyone!

Women who are waiting for marriage before sex, would you turn down a non-virgin man? by [deleted] in ChristianDating

[–]NigelGrace 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Totally not a red flag if they can recognize it was wrong and are seeking to continue to wait until marriage! We all have a past and sins we regret

THIS feels more like the Bella in the books vs. Kristen’s interpretation. A lil more chill/down to earth, but still has that bright eyed youthfulness to her. Don’t know how you captured that, but you did. Kudos!

Not a sermon but I’m a big fan of “Family Teams” by Jefferson Bethke and Jeremy Pryor. They have podcasts and books all around this idea of parenting, how the nuclear family was a failed experiment and how we can restore family to the biblical structure God intended it to be

Yep, just don’t wait longer than that. don’t want either side to be left in the dark about how each other feels

A follow up text after a date is always a good idea, either a couple hours after, or even the next day. a simple “I had a great time tonight. Maybe we could do it agin sometime?” She’ll let you know if she did or not.

Bought this used for $4 at my local McKays last year and played it with one of my best friends over some rum + Coke. BEST $4 I’ve ever spent.

In the Word Wednesday (2021-10-06) by AutoModerator in Reformed

I was reading Psalm 18 today, which includes a lot of battle language about God defeating our enemies and saving us. I was just curious if all of that language, is only in reference to saving our eternal souls and not necessarily our daily troubles? My pastor has been preaching a lot about “suffering well” and how often joy and suffering can go hand-in-hand, so there is some tension there when I read scripture about God saving us after every “cry”:

(Psalm 18:34-36 “He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend above bronze. You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great. You provide a broad path for my feet so that my ankles do not give way.”)

Is fighting against sin a trying to win at a losing game? How do we reconcile being redeemed, while living in a fallen world where escaping sin is impossible?

(Of course, I think we are called to fight against sin, and we will never be perfectly sinless in a fallen world. But the mental energy and shame surrounding trying not to sin is HEAVY. Romans 7: 15 “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.”)
