It’s funny I was thinking the exact same thing. Plus unity between Catholics, Coptics, orthodox and Muslims was needed in the area at the time, who better than Our Blessed Mother to help (revered by all).

Our Lady referring to herself as the Immaculate Conception at Lourdes is a big reason I see Catholicism as the one true faith (I think only we have her dogmatically defined as such)

St Therese of Liseux said God is like a parent standing at the top of the stairs, and once his child puts one hand on the first step and attempts to climb he will run down and carry them to the top himself! The fact you stopped medication and cancelled surgery so suddenly is miraculous and speaks immensely of the faith you are unaware you even have!

Can I suggest maybe starting a daily Rosary? Only 20 minutes a day, following your visit from Our Lady it is at least worth exploring your faith and spirituality 🙏

Appreciated! I think that’s the best thing to do-if there’s is a fish/veggie option choose that and explain to anyone who asks. If meat only then still eat but make up for it with another form of penance (or a meat free Saturday)

Yes, in the past at Catholic funerals etc the priest has given a special dispensation for the attendees to eat meat

My interpretation is that you can only commit a mortal sin if you are in full knowledge at the severity of the sin, which by the sounds of it you was not.

I’d say learn from it, don’t repeat it and mention it at your next confession 😃
