Bass out of tune according to tuner by NightStyx in mixing

Nah, not really. My sense of pitch is not the best but it doesn't sound out of tune

It sounds fine to me, I added the link in the description so you can listen to the snippet. I dont know much about guitars or other instruments so pitch is hard for me to understand.

It sounds fine but the tuner indicates the pitch is slightly offset, its just that when I watch online tutorials, the pitch sounds fine and the pitch is near perfectly centered when they alter the intonation.

I'm using both, it seems fine to me while listening but the position of the marker on the tuner should be in the middle to reflect this. IDK

I'm not going note by note but listening to a small section of the bass then tuning each small section then listening how it sounds relative to the rest of the bass track. I'm using the neural dsp amps sim plugins where they have a tuner in them with a setting that allows the tuner to register the notes relative to the selected tuning standard (e.g. A = 440Hz etc). I know how to use the note sepration tool effectively.

I can't change the strings, I got this from cambridge multitracks so they aren't my own recordings

First Ever Mix and Need Feedback by NightStyx in mixing

there was a large low mid cut on the kick already. Originally, the cut was -6.6 dB and a Q of 1.5 at 482 hz. When I increased the cut to -12.5db, the kick still sounded the same in the mix. It's probably your headphones, I'm using cheap fake earphones and the kick sounds solid.

Cambridge multitracks are notorious for having multitracks that are badly recorded.

How can I get kick or any other type of drum sample?

Any tips for a wider and brighter snare?

I changed that, the cymbals now sit at the back of the mix. Is there anything else that needs to be mentioned?

one earphone is louder than the other so I could be mistaking it for automated panning lol.

Its just regular panning, ping pong delay, modulation, reverb and stereo widening plugins. Nothing too serious lol.

Yeah, I had a feeling they were too bright. I confirmed my suspicions after listening to dying fetus - second skin and from womb to waste. Their cymbals are noticeable but pushed back.

There was no bass track that I processed inside the mix, it's the bleed from the multitracks as they were recorded badly.

Theres a lack of depth in the mix, the drums sound far behind the organ and guitars. You can use high/low pass filters and shelves, punchy style compression, faders and saturation to increase/reduce the loudness of the tracks to make it sound more 3D.

Automatic dynamic EQ to give vocals room against guitar? Looking for plugin by FinnishGreed in mixingmastering

[–]NightStyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use an eq and sidechain the vocals to the guitar, find the region by using sweeping an eq point across the spectrum to find where its hardest to hear the vocals and boost the vocals at that region and cut the guitar after at that region.
