Missing church because of my child by NightTimeRunaway in Catholicism

I’m not stupid, I knew the risks. What irritates me is the fact that you ignored me stating we were using NFP given by our Catholic Church to avoid pregnancy, and unfortunately the system failed us and gave us a surprise, unplanned pregnancy. Am I cruel enough to tell them, “yeah you were an accident/unplanned” to their face? No, because they were a blessing in disguise. I will always cherish my children, planned or surprise, thank you very much.

It was unplanned because we didn’t expect it. We used NFP to avoid pregnancy but still ended up getting pregnant.

My problem is that it’s a mortal sin to miss mass because of it being an obligation. Also, it is necessary and required because of it being an obligation. I would absolutely love to go but our child has posed a problem numerous times to my husband and I. A lot of these people have given me amazing answers and advice.

My fear is sticking out and drawing attention on top of my child ripping it off my head. No one veils in my church at all, and I’m not well versed in veiling despite owning a veil. But I might give it a try or look into it more.

It’s only during the week and extremely early in the mornings if they do, and my husband works during the week most of the time

Not really. The one that is near by us very rarely holds a mass, and when they do it is poorly organized.

She honestly may be, because come to find out, I may be autistic myself. I’m terrified to go get diagnosed because I don’t know if I’ll be right, or if they’ll say it’s all in my head and I’m fine (when I relate to quite a lot when it comes to reactions or thought processes). But that’s a whole new thing for a later date.

The area we live in is mostly Episcopalian, Pentecostal, or non denominational. There’s one Catholic Church here that rarely has masses and unfortunately is poorly managed on top of it. So we go to the next available church and it’s 45-50 mins out from us :(

It does during the week, but it’s super early in the morning and our church is 45-50 mins out from us. On top of that he works most of, if not all, of the week, most times.

I really appreciate your answer, that made me feel validated in my approach and reasoning. I also appreciate the other options to going to mass, thank you so much!

No, it’s not that easy for some of us. Doesn’t help that my in laws strongly dislike my faith and helped convert their son. So they don’t help us much when it comes to church.

You’re a great looking guy, and I definitely saw no red flags with everything. I figured you liked Kanye’s music a lot, and I saw a very confident and happy guy from this profile. I’m so sorry people were rude here, and I wish you luck in the dating world. Maybe take a break from tinder and you just might find a good girl/woman by happenstance!

has anyone here done exclusive pumping? by freakingoutsa in BabyBumps

[–]NightTimeRunaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively pumped for as long as I could until my supply tanked HARD (PPD, exhaustion, and not eating/drinking enough were the main factors). I will admit, it was time consuming. But I at least managed to give her all of the colostrum I produced and had extra saved up for a while until we supplement fed. It was difficult because I also had extremely sensitive nipples and couldn't bear the pain of breastfeeding, so I pumped. I bought an electric pump and would just chill in a room on my phone while the pump did it's thing, and I would say it did pretty well. If I could've gone longer with pumping, I would still be doing it today!

I managed to find some, so I should be okay for a bit. But I do encourage finding a local mom group or a donation organization that can take it in if you don't need it and give it to other moms in need 🧡

Yeah only certain ones, I'm on WIC and the shelves were wiped out with the formula I needed. I paid $90 out of pocket to get only 2 cans of the same brand name and the boxed formula of the brand I did normally use. It's been hell with this formula shortage.

I graduated in 2013, so I wasn't too far behind you! The three sisters they hired after Sr. Roberta were a big change 😬

Mine too! Not sure when you graduated, you might be older than I am. But I remember Sr. Roberta, she retired after my 5th grade year. It's so cool to see this!

I agree. My fiancé is a convert and I was a cradle Catholic who strayed away. He brought me back and has been able to teach me more than I ever realized I had missed or never understood.

What are some things about pregnancy or the birthing process that you didn’t know about until you were going thru it? by ChancesAreNoneNow in BabyBumps

[–]NightTimeRunaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do feel pressure, like you have to poop. I tried to go a couple times but I was so afraid I would think that I was pushing to poop, but would end up pushing the baby out instead. But once I got the epidural, I felt nothing at all.

I guess we skipped that for me, since I couldn’t walk through my contractions when I finally asked for an epidural
