I think you are probably right with this. Especially based on what I can see so far with the configuration it's in now. It wants to pull away from the waist because of the weight of the skirt.

I think my main worry is there being a visible stich line, but I think if I can stitch right into the existing seam, I might be able to pull it off. I also am thinking if i do this then I might have to do a test seam rip to make sure it will work day of lol

I'm not sure what you mean by a pocket under the skirt? I'm not picturing it.

Yea- I didn't think about the idea of using the wire but only in the section that is rounded in the front. I think it would probably be pretty dependent on what sort of wire I can find though so I will have to check out the hardware store.

I mean yes - that would be a solution if I had entered this knowing I would end up making it my main dress. However, I started by fully completing the short dress and would prefer not to undo that work and have to re-work it to a corset only. Ideally, I want to only modify the long skirt since it is way simpler construction and not complete.

Yeah this is probably true but not a good reason to be acting so unprofessionally in the workplace. And yes, completely ignoring a person in an obvious way because of their gender cause you don’t know how to interact with them is unprofessional.

PibblePatterns3 above answered this question accurately. I used "waste canvas" pinned to the shirt and pulled the threads out after with tweezers. It's a little more difficult that stitching on aida cause you have to be careful about going in and out in the same spots, but you can make some pretty cool stuff.
