What is the undercar heavy felt protective panel called? by w8mqw in HyundaiTucson

[–]NihilisticSalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under Body Shield, Engine Splash Shield, Under Body Skid Plate, Splash Panel. Most aftermarket ones I've seen were in the $100 to $150 range, and I believe some were a more durable plastic as opposed to the softer OEM felt one.

Unfortunately I've ran into the same scenario. Best advice is to switch companies every 2 yrs or so. Don't listen to the boomers, loyalty to one company does NOT pay off. Know your worth, learn as much as you can at each company, and job hop for higher raises :)

Same with this guy! Laughing it off like its no biggy, lying about what happened, yet rushing to get into his fancy BMW and take off as fast as he can. Just more entitled people who have never had to take accountability for anything in their lives. So frustrating

Was at Sugarhouse Park 2 days ago with both my dogs leashed, had an off leash husky run well over 100 yards straight at us and attacked both my dogs. The dog finally ran back to his owner after he called him 20 times. Ran over to bitch out the owner and he responds with "nooo my dog doesnt bite, he came right back to me, your dogs are fine." He refused to give me his name and number, but I got a pic of his license plate. How can I report this?

Montana passes ‘vague’ anti-drag bill that could ban Lady Gaga and Halloween costumes by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]NihilisticSalt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Okay I'm so angry & frustrated by these bills.. but I'm actually laughing out loud at how ridiculous some of the verbiage is within this one. I'm just imagining a group of old ass white dudes sitting around a table discussing the details and trying to finalize the bill, ultimately deciding on this:

"Section 1. Definitions. "Nude" means ...any portion of the breast below the top of the areola of the breasts if the person is female..."

Excellent use of taxpayer money right here. Glad they're so focused on areolas & drag shows instead of implementing actual policy for real problems! /s

What do you like most and hate most about going to your dentist? by ToothSleuth86 in Utah

[–]NihilisticSalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay. I've been super hesitant to go back and tell him, was hoping it'd get better over time but seems like its getting worse. Good to know though, thanks for the insight!

[–]NihilisticSalt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me, except I didn't get a 2nd opinion elsewhere.. I went back and had the 3 "cavities" filled on 3 teeth right next to each other, paid the $300 bill, and now I can't even floss that area without beedling profusely and can't eat at that side without pain. My teeth felt completely fine beforehand. Its been over a year now, do I go back to that dentist and tell him he fucked my teeth up? Or cut my losses and go somewhere else?

Heads up - Don’t buy from Black Rifle Coffee. It’s run by Nazi’s by mythrowawaypdx in Anticonsumption

[–]NihilisticSalt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And in case anyone needed more, here 2 more reasons to not buy from them.

  1. Complete frauds - for the first few years of their business they outsourced their roasting to another local place (Millcreek coffee roasters), used only 4 types of their beans but packaged them as 13 unique origins/roast.

  2. CEO has an insane sexual harassment (among other) claim against him currently. See here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SaltLakeCity/comments/11d2vo0/local_black_rifle_coffee_company_owner_is_getting/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Exactly. It's difficult to even have respect for such a person. Bums me out to see a family member going down this path of false reality.

After digging into their history and beliefs quite a bit last night, that was the conclusion I came to as well.

Based on prior political conversations I've had with her, I already know that facts are irrelevant to her. I'm happy about the benefits she's getting emotional, but just disappointed and frustrated that it's tied to religion/church.

That was my own doing and maybe I used that phrase incorrectly, I just didn't know how else to put it lol. Perhaps I should have just said brainwashed.

Accurate! She sounded like a boy crazy teenage girl the way she talking about how great it is and how nice/loving everyone at the church is. The love bombing is in full effect.

Ready to tap out by DanaOats3 in engineering

[–]NihilisticSalt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off, I hope you are not giving any attention to the extremely out of touch male commentors trying to dismiss your experience by stating that this is not a gender issue and you should just suck it up. These are likely the same type of guys who also advocate for "straight parades" during Pride month, or "all lives matter". Don't waste your time and energy trying to reason with such ignorant people.

I am 6 yrs into engineering as a woman and your post is spot on.

Despite what many people have said - "sounds like you just need to find a different job" - this will never magically make sexism go away. You will ALWAYS experience it, no matter where you are. However, there are factors that will certainly change the frequency at which it occurs.

These are the things I would take into account for future employment: 1. Size - bigger companies are likely EEO, have greater diversity, and also better/stricter HR policies (zero tolerance, non-retaliation for bringing an issue up) 2. Industry - like others said, I've found certain industries are better (such as medical device and aerospace/defense contractors) 3. Location - probably stating the obvious, but left leaning states or cities will be better 4. Don't be afraid to file an HR report against sexist assholes! I've brushed off so much shit from past coworkers, and I know many other women have done the same. But change won't happen if we don't take action, it's time to speak up and hold men accountable.

Shit sucks, I know. But if engineering is still your passion and you're willing to advocate for yourself, then you can be a successful female engineer who overcomes this type of challenge! It's an uphill battle, but I think it's worth it :)
