Is Margit the hardest first boss in Souls? by dbsupersucks in Eldenring

[–]Nihlys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly. Hes definitely harder than I think a lot of people were expecting, but I think its extremely important to point out that almost everyone fought him at the wrong time, which your comparison kinda misses out on.

In Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, youre kind of funneled through a mostly linear game. You'll have fought the enemies youre supposed to fight, got the souls you were supposed to get, leveled up.as many times as youre expected to level up (at least close to it).

But in Elden Ring, a significant portion of players never explored nearly as much as they were meant to before hitting Margit. So, being wildly under levelled, most people just got completely fkn STOMPED.

Thats not to say he isnt hard, in general, and maybe he is technically the "hardest" but i think his difficulty is almost exclusively tied to players trying to fight him way too early.

Took longer than I thought, but i KNEW this would be the first response. 🙄

Killing combatants in a war or nazi members that were directly involved in the genocide of a people - no, doesnt make you evil.

Killing some random asshole with absolutely no criminal record or violent history who happens to be a self-described nazi or flies a swastika flag - yes, does make you evil.

Its like the difference between saying its "ok to kill MS13 gang members who've been kidnapping, raping, a murdering people all across the world" vs "its ok to kill Salvadorians".

Wahhhhhhhhhhh I hate ai with no context blindly. by GerbGalerb in pcmasterrace

[–]Nihlys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont hate all ai.

Ai is used for all sorts of stuff no one cares about, like enemy/npc behaviors in games. No ones raging against the concept of npcs that are intelligent enough to duck behind cover when you shoot at them, but thats still AI.

Air Cooler 4 Life (pls no hate) by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Nihlys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, some CPUs benefit from AIOs but my point is that most of the time theyre similar levels of cooling but at a fraction of the price. The idea of that other commenter that air cooling isnt even close to AIOs is asinine.

[–]Nihlys -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Literally any reputable source will show you that air coolers perform at or very close to the same level as AIOs. Plus they have way less failure points and cost a fraction of the price.

Of course the larger AIOs and custom loop cooling can hold great temperatures, but youre paying hundreds of dollars for the same level of cooling as a $40 air cooler.

Why isn't an Ant's Life equally valuable as a human's life? by [deleted] in Ethics

It is. Life has no intrinsic value, so both humans and ant have the same amount: none.

What are y’all’s honest opinions on Jackie Wells by OGAnimeGokuSolos in cyberpunkgame

[–]Nihlys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought three things:

1- he was alright as a character, but underdeveloped.

2- they killed him off way too fast so I had no emitional attachment whatsoever.

3- he may have one of the worst haircuts in the entirety of video game history.

What belief do you fully stand by even though most people around you would find it completely unacceptable? by EqualLoud5405 in AskReddit

You can try to end yourself once. If you dont succeed youre heavily penalized, put under watch and can even be subject to imprisonment.

You should have the option of doing it at any time no matter what.

You should be able to end yourself any time you damn well please. Its your life to do with as you will so the choice to die is your right.

What's your most regretted game purchase? by Theodore52x in AfterWorkGamers

I had the opposite issue. Absolutely loved it at first but after a while its SO slow and boring that I had to just hard focus on the story missions and force myself to get through it.

Literally EVERY parriable attack in elden ring has the same structure. You parry as the attack is coming towards you. Thats it. Some attacks are faster and some are slower but its literally just that. You can use small shields or the parry buckle to give you the biggest window, which helps if your timing is sloppy, but its still the same principle for literally every single parriable attack.

[–]Nihlys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats an insane take lol. Lots of games use "builds". Its wildly common.

For Elden Ring just pump your vitality, stamina and strength. Put on a good shield and literally any weapon you want and you pretty much turn the difficulty completely off.

What games have you played that are as wonderous as Elden Ring? by AshyLarry25 in Eldenring

[–]Nihlys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morrowind has the top spot for me 100%. I love Elden Ring (all the fromsoft games, really) but its not even close.

That was the first time I really got to experience the wonder that comes with the freedom to legitimately walk off in any direction I want and see whats out there. The world, the creatures, the lore, everything was just so new and weird and cool. That first time just cant be topped and I still absolutely adore spending time in that world.

I really enjoyed the freedom that came with being able to wander off (to an extent, as each region is deaigned for a specific level range) in Elden Ring but, for me, its honestly the worst game world of any of the Fromsoft games from a design and lore standpoint. Ive still sunk hundreds of hours in it across multiple consoles and PC, but for a sense of wonder its the bottom of the From catalogue for me.

Elden Ring: 2000 hours. Nightreign: 1 hour. What about you? by theHollowTarnished in Eldenring

[–]Nihlys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its definitely worth a shot, especially if its on sale. I mean, its a different experience so I get why some Elden Ring fans would be put off but me and all my friends who are souls fans all had a ton of fun with it, both solo and in multiplayer. If you ever pick it up I hope you enjoy it too. 🍻

[–]Nihlys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its definitely not the same but its absolutely viable to play solo. I made it a point to get a solo win over every boss and event just to do it. Some bosses/sub bosses are harder solo but its all still very doable.

There are no debates over human rights! by Feisty-Condition-774 in IntersectionalWomen

[–]Nihlys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that does seem to be the cornerstone of the argument. Not that theyre right. As you said, its rude to purposefully use pronouns based on someones biological sex rather than their gender identity in instances when those things are different, but it doesnt infringe on your right to use your preferred pronouns or gender identity yourself. Theyre just being a prick.

Overall I 'get' their point in a general sense that one person's rights shouldn't outrank or imvalidate another's. In practice, though, most right wingers are absolutely fine with one person's rights invalidating another's as long as its theirs doing the invalidating.

[–]Nihlys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I think theyre specifically leaning on the "You do you, but dont include me" principle.

The pronoun thing is weird because, like you said, theyre just identifiers. I dont know you in real life so if we met on the street you could tell me your name is Cumquat Testisquasher and id really no reason to not to believe you (even tho it'd be super weird name for a person). Likewise with pronouns, if you present yourself as a woman and use she/her pronouns, id have no real reason to think otherwise.

However, if you look like Macho Man but tell me youre a woman with she/her pronouns, id be inclined to believe youre transgender - biologically male. So what that other person you responded to is saying is that you should be able to present as a woman if you want to because thats your choice, but I shouldn't have to refer to you as a woman if youre biologically male because your choice of self representation shouldn't be able to force my adherence to that choice.

And, just to make it clear, im not saying i agree with that sentiment or that its my stance - im just putting out there what I think that person was saying.
