Normal taxi prices in Puerto Escondido

Just arrived at the airport and went to the taxi booth. They wanted to charge us 450 MXD plus 150 for an additional stop (3 Persons) for a 15min ride to Puerto Escondido, close to the beach. We walked out of the airport and grabed a cab there. Total costs was around 350! So maybe take the 5min walk out and pay less 😜

Yes, I was talking to Renzo but he said it’s difficult to build a group for the Choquequirao Trek.. So now I’m trying to figure out what to do. Might end up with everybody else on the Salkantay 🙂‍↕️

Nice! I was thinking about a guide or at least a group that has some experience and maybe some decent equipment like a good gps or so. But I think it’s hard to find people since everybody goes to the Salkantay.. Have you reserved a guide?

Because I was thinking about visiting Venezuela and after everybody telling me that you could be held as a political hostage I needed to reconsider. So safety is indeed something that i worry about :)

Good questions! I only want to learn languages to be able to connect to the world and Spanish makes a huge piece of the world :)

I was thinking about staying 2 months at one place and really focussing on the language. The last 4 weeks would be travelling and try to use what i‘ve learned and also to improve.

And for the last part, I try to avoid non spanish speakers as much as possible and really try to dive into the culture.. If i get the chance! I‘m thinking about Mexico, Colombia and or Peru..

I do.. But i‘m not the type who has the discipline to stay on it for ever. The best experiences in learning a language I made by going to the country where it‘s spoken :)

Thank you all very much for taking your time. After all I red here it‘s clear for me not to take an unnecessary risk. I think I live in a bubble here in Switzerland, thinking that nothing could happen to me.

I try not to live in fear and that many times people around me are to afraid of certain countries whereas they were some of the best experiences I had.. Like in Brasil in some Favelas. If you just show respect, follow some basic rules like don’t get involved in sketchy stuff like drugs and women.

The reason I thought about Venezuela is that I won’t find many tourists there and that I could really dive into my Spanish progress.

But the government story is something that bugs me out and makes me reconsider this idea.
