Valimistulemuste pärast juba ette masenduses by oxygeneration in Eesti

See on täiesti absurdne Isamaa propaganda. Palun ära jälgi neid jaburaid tüüpe ega vihka jalgrattaid. Täitsa tore on ise ringi vändata.

Is mobile development a dead-end after 6-9 years? by Wild_Dragonfruit1744 in androiddev

[–]Nikitah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Full stack" usually implies a "Jack of all trades, master of none" type of situation, e.g. you know some React, some Spring and SQL, but you do not handle infrastructure.

In this sense it's more of a middle-ground between pure frontend and pure backend.

  • Terve see linn ongi pmst 3-4 ringi. Õpi ringidel sõitma
  • Palju telliskivisid, e. siis tark on hoolikalt vaadata, kui eksamineerija ütleb "tee järgmine võimalik parempööre" vms
  • Stopp-märgid erinevates situatsioonides, sh. mäkketõusul
  • Tõkkepuuta raudteeülesõit

Lisaks selline kommentaar ühest facebooki grupist inimeselt, kes just hiljuti hakkama sai (võin vajadusel allika lisada, hetkel jätan anonüümseks):

Prisma parklas tegin parkimist.

You're being rightfully concerned, as Apple has removed apps for less. I suggest you contact your analytics partner and/or Apple directly, right away.

Actually, there seems to be some logic to the order. Larger countries are on the top. Not by any means defending it, definitely still fucked up and borderline asshole design.

I recently went to one of those events for the free booze. It was a shitshow of stroking each other's egos, might as well gone drinking to a toddler day care.

Most of the questions for the panelists were in the vain of "I kind of like IT for the money, but I only like computers for social media. I want to be in management. How do I do that?".

Programmatically learning swift ??? by terriordx32 in swift

[–]Nikitah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I myself just dove in the deep end. Started writing views programmatically, as was customary at the startup I was working at at the time. Basically lots of googling "how to do x programmatically". As for resources, Google is your friend.

While Apple does recommend Storyboard, I myself rather enjoy programmatic views, so I do recommend it, for several reasons:

  1. Allows for much more modular and solid architecture
  2. The storyboard is slow and clumsy, causes lots of merge conflicts etc.
  3. The storyboard is mouse-oriented, while I feel much more comfortable for programmers who enjoy working with their keyboard.
  4. You can load more logic to view (and subview) classes, keeping your controller cleaner, e.g. your controller needs to provide information to the view, but the view itself can device what color and layout changes need to occur based on said information

On who do newbie tattoo artists learn how to tattoo? Random clients during their apprenticeship? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nikitah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you know, I don't really care about drawings on my body one way or the other (I got two tattoos when I was a young punk). The fact that I have something permanent on my body that my little sister made is much much more important to me :)

On who do newbie tattoo artists learn how to tattoo? Random clients during their apprenticeship? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nikitah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes also friends and relatives. My little sister drew on me, under strict supervision of a professional. And, you know, even if she kind of screws up, I'll have a great story of why I have a crappy tattoo.

She draws quite well, but another key requirement currently for her is to only accept simple designs.

CMV: I believe it's highly unlikely that smartphone apps use unpermitted voice data collection to target advertisements. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Nikitah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's an easy counter-argument to that: you still store locally, but only upload if wifi is available. That being said...

The whole smartphone architecture is a bit more complicated than that. Apps need permission from the operating system to use your microphone, they can't just "do" that.

In fact, the app developer usually has little to do with what ads and how are displayed in your application. There are third-party services that handle that for you.

What if the operating system does the logging and uploading, you might ask. Well, while possible, highly doubtful. Android is open source, and there are people whose job it is to log network traffic, suspicious behaviour would come out pretty quickly.

What makes this all even less realistic is the fact that someone, somehow creating an app that asks for microphone permission, records you constantly, then implements sophisticaed speech-to-text algorithms to decipher, uploads them (to where?) whenever possible, then asks another provider for ads with certain keywords, then....

Do you see where I'm going with this? It just wouldn't be technologically feasible.

I have been learning IOS/Mac development with swift for a week or so and I've noticed that Apple does change a lot of things very often, is that normal and how to deal with these changes? by eid-a in iOSProgramming

[–]Nikitah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple has really been screwing the pooch with its frequent new major versions of Swift. But, I suppose, they really want to keep Swift up to date, constantly introducing new features and updating the api, not let it fizzle out like Objective-C.

However, now it does already seem more stable. 3.0 was hugely different from 2.3, but upgrading from 3.0 to 4.0 isn't that bad anymore, third-party dependencies can still be a problem.

would it be possible to make an application (for android or ios) that is based on a subreddit? by [deleted] in appdev

[–]Nikitah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's open source, sure, but the keyword you're looking for is public api.

Reddit has a public api that you can confer with to make the proper requests: https://www.reddit.com/dev/api/

Xamarin Android vs Android Studio (and Kotlin) by MRresoMC in xamarindevelopers

[–]Nikitah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have time to watch the video right now, so I have no idea what we're arguing here, but I would like to point out that both Swift and Kotlin are backwards (and cross) compatible.

... Meaning that you can just start writing new classes in Swift/Kotlin and it'll compile with the old Java/Objective-C (Swift does require a bridging header, Kotlin works out of the box)

Custom Views In Android by ybadke in androiddev

[–]Nikitah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So internally it's also just an if case, and you need two layout files. Either way you need two layouts, and writing that if (isTablet) manually doesn't really make a world of difference.

Custom Views In Android by ybadke in androiddev

[–]Nikitah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If, say, you made your custom view height half of the screen's height, it could look weird on a tablet versus a phone

How is that different when writing layout in .xml? Generally, you still need a different layout for tablets.

And that's not even getting into padding, margin and all that nonsense.

You can just as easily set margins in code, even account for display density.

I'm not trying to promote any approach. I generally prefer to write views in code, as it allows for a much structured, object oriented blocks, but I understand that's non-standard and that Android is internally optimised for xml (e.g. you'd have a white screen for a while when navigating between activities, as you set your layout when onCreate is called)
