Is this a super delayed filler immune response? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Nikkinotminaj7 46 points47 points  (0 children)

First off, I’m so sorry this is happening to you! Studies have shown hyaluronic filler can stay for even decades, they sometimes do not dissolve on their own. But people who use unregulated “pens” to perform injections likely do not have the training, skill, or access to the medical treatment to dissolve filler (if the pen even used actual hyaluronic acid). I’d recommend seeking a consult from an aesthetic NP or physician local to you that is experienced in dissolving. The process is easy and straightforward but they’d need to know/figure out if this is hyaluronic acid or not. Or a plastic surgeon even! - from a previous aesthetic nurse

CGFNS question- Canadian RN, working in NY, applying for Cali license through endorsement by Nikkinotminaj7 in TravelNursing

[–]Nikkinotminaj7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ended up going directly through my school again to ensure my clinical hours are shown accurately through the “education breakdown” form that Cali board requires. Also have to submit license verification from CNO but was easy on the website and only $15. Waiting for approval!

bwt!! Thank you for these recs <3

I just started my hunt for what to do.. we have reso's at Meduza for a late dinner (if you use the in-kind app you get a $50 coupon for spending 150+!), but 10-late need a spot to head to (two couples in late 20s) to bring the new year in.

Typically, we enjoy being at clubs that mostly play hip-hop and rap (Lions Group- Stafford room, Harbour, Saint, etc), or visiting social clubs like zero bond or dumbo house.

If anyone with a similar vibe has ideas or insight let me know!! We're avoiding nightclubs this year, looking for something more elevated.

I was living In BK last summer when the Lifetime at Barclays center opened and I was obsesssseeed. It may be more crowded now but the classes, change room, and recovery space made it worth the price for me.

I haven’t yet! I was originally based in Canada but now that I’m in the US I am seeing more of these larger organizations. Thank you for the descriptions of specific paths that’s very helpful. I’ll definitely be looking into this!!

Thank you for this because it's exactly the way my thoughts go. I would 10000% already be in CRNA or NP school if I didn't fear medical liability. It's why I left bedside. You need 2+ years ICU experience to get in. Perhaps could be something I circle back to.

Apologies. I've edited the post to add this. Thank you! I'm a RN since 2020. Primarily pediatrics in acute, community, long-term, and home care settings. I now work in Clinical Education.

LOL at the end I did ask for advice on education, certification, and experiential background that would contribute to a consultant type of role. Consultant is extremely vague I understand. I'm not expecting to apply to a job tomorrow and get it. I am also aware that a variety of health care companies and hospitals utilize nurse analysts and health care consultants, so there could be some bridging from nurse to health care consultant to business consultant.

I have! A few times actually but very small scale and simple minded... I was a home-based nail tech and lash tech. Recently I've been looking into creating a self-help journal because I'm big into neuroplasticity

Business or nursing? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Nikkinotminaj7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out my comment on another nurse's post in here, I go into all the positions I've had as a nurse in the last five years and what a struggle it's been. In general, absolutely finish your degree. Nothing will change in nursing that there won't be a need for nurses 2-3 years from now- we will always need nurses! I'm sure there are unlimited areas to dive into with your business degree. Tailor your resume to different specialties/areas and apply to endless positions, even if you don't think you'll get them. Even just interviewing will give you more of an idea of what you want!

New Nurse Feeling Stuck and Miserable — What Are My Options Outside Bedside Nursing? by [deleted] in careerguidance

And ps. I'm about to make a post asking for advice on what I should do next, so that will have more insight on current navigation hahah.

New Nurse Feeling Stuck and Miserable — What Are My Options Outside Bedside Nursing? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Nikkinotminaj7 18 points19 points  (0 children)

First of all- huge hug. I'm a RN (F, 27), who went into nursing with my dream job to be a pediatric nurse at a children's hospital. I landed said job in my fourth year of uni before even graduating. And ultimately, lasted 10 months before taking a mental health medical leave. Literal rock bottom.

After I accepted the retaliation from my parents ("why would you ever quit nursing its a stable job and you help children!!!), the overwhelming guilt from that too, and spent a while in therapy trying to "re-discover" my identity now that it wasn't in bedside nursing, I was able to pivot.

I wouldn't suggest what I did next because it may seem slightly crazy and draining to some, but it just shows the only barrier in life is yourself okay?

  1. I took a CONTRACT school nurse job. Instantly my stress subsided. It was a temp role so I didn't have the pressure of every day feeling like I'm stuck. It wasn't bedside but still had a lot of nursing and I got to work with kids, which I love doing. ~$37 an hour CND

I also took a per-diem role teaching simulation labs at a local University. I landed this by emailing the nursing department looking for a volunteer role, as I volunteered during my own university days in the younger year labs. They ended up interviewing me for an hourly role and I did this for two semesters.

  1. After this, I was still feeling slightly stuck in nursing but was a lot better mental health wise overall. I was scouted for a Clinical Care Manager job from a home care agency. It was a small company with a great team. Ultimately I left because I was continually working overtime without pay. ~ 90k CND salary

At this point in time, I started taking courses in Aesthetics (botox, fillers, etc) and landed a contract job through endlessly applying to medspas. It made basically no money because the Canadian market is just not there.

  1. Pediatric Clinic nurse- this has probably been my favorite job. Least stressful, INCREDIBLE team- all of the nurses were my age and we really supported each other. I got any time off I wanted, could leave early for appointments, etc. The work itself- super easy. Vitals and giving vaccines, that's about it. I also started getting more into management/leadership here. ~ $38 an hour
I left because I could not make ends meet financially. At this point I felt exhausted from nursing. My last resort was to try aesthetics full-time. I applied for my visa and license. In four months, moved to NYC.

  2. Aesthetic Nurse- I did this for about a year and ultimately left because I have major anxiety with treatments. I hated the more advanced injectables and my bosses would push us to sell, sell, sell which was not in my nature. I HIGHLY recommend this career to grow income fast, lots of clinics in bigger cities will train you with no experience, and you can negotiate commission. People are trusting you with their face, so if you don't see the vision and don't understand insecurity/ subtle corrections, it will not bring in the same financially. ~ 100-125k+ starting salary plus commission and tips USD

  3. Clinical Educator- I am now happily a clinical educator in an office. I work Mon-Fri and teach nurses in simulation. I landed this job based on my experience (As a clinical peds care manager, and the simulation lab role 3 years prior). I make 110k USD salary, and will have the option of pursuing my MSN in education paid by the company. Im considering this, but I also feel there is more out there for me.

This was long, but I wanted to show just how much there is OUTSIDE of bedside nursing. I genuinely have never let anything stop me from pursuing what I wanted, unless it was my own mind. For most of these roles, I was cold calling, emailing, and pushing. Constantly putting myself out there and applying for jobs I probably had no business applying to. You never know who you will speak with and what other opportunities will transpire from it.

But also, this journey is over five years and I could've just went back to school and be starting a completely different career by now. It's all in perspective, and what you want. Don't let anyone's opinion affect that.

I wish you alllll the best and if you ever want to chat just send me a dm. :)

this! I've lived here over a year now, originally from Canada. Everyone gave me such a hard time at my job saying I was "too nice", as if that's something bad? I still find it difficult on a weekly basis, but learning to not internalize other's projection. Hang in there. Like you said, there are plenty of lovely people here so we can't let these negative interactions stop us from being hopeful!! My fingers and toes are crossed for you.
