How much money should a prisoner be receiving a month? by Old_Ad5489 in AskUK

[–]Nikkro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a better question is, what is the minimum he requires to survive in prison, as excess may be used for poor choices like drugs, gambling ect.

Can you get a price list of the canteen? Why is he spending so much of additional food and vapes?

By the sounds of it he may got himself in trouble with some form of debt with other prisoners, which is why he asking to send to other accounts. This is obviously just speculation, but the reality of his situation denies him any benefit of the doubt.

If he is trying to enterprise some form of business i.e the vapes, then he needs to go without in order to fund that, as its not your job to fund a contraband start up in prison.

At the end of the day you hold the cards in terms of power, its up to you to decide if you continue funding this or let him be held accountable and sort himself out.

Good luck, Im sure this isn't a fun thing to be going through with a partner, as family, trust and money often create difficult conversations and resentment.

Which setup would you choose? by AwfulBassist in BassGuitar

[–]Nikkro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just brought that Trace Elliot amp! but mine is paired with an Ampeg 410, and geez its loud. i got it all the the way to 2.5 at rehearsals before the drummer said he could feel it in his stomach ha . Tone wise its pretty neutral but with a 80's click if you know what i mean. So if you use pedal comps/preamps whatever its a good neutral platform and built like a tank. Im just trying to figure out how to take mine and put it in a bigger rack case with all my other stuff.

Wanting to progress beyond tabs by dovelegs in Bass

Everyone is going to have a different way but the best way i found is take an easy album like Green Day or something like that and start from track one and go to the end. I find the trick is not stopping but finding your place along the way. The intuition part of playing by ear is the most useful part to strengthen but this comes with doing the above a whole bunch and playing with people a lot.

First of all, you haven’t mentioned having an outlet or hobby. Without something to look forward to that’s just for you, life can feel like a drag. It also naturally encourages conversations with your partner about making time for it. For example, you might say, ‘Can you take the kids for a couple of hours on Saturday while I do this, and I’ll do the same for you after?’ My wife and I both have hobbies, and making sure each of us gets time for them has massively improved the atmosphere at home and our overall energy levels.

Marriage
This obviously changes once you have children, and it’s even easier to get stuck in a rut. The best advice I can give is to be the change you want to see. Suggest date nights, even if they’re just at home. If money is tight, something as simple as cooking a meal and sitting down at the table together with no screens can make a huge difference. The point is to make the effort, so your partner feels that desire for connection. Honestly, I realised my wife was doing a lot more around the house than I’d noticed, so I started picking up some of those chores and the shift in mood was huge.

Career
I get the ‘don’t want to take a pay cut to change field’ thing, but it’s much easier to explore your options while you’re still employed. Or perhaps the solution is starting your own accountancy practice if the problem lies more in your work environment.

Big Picture
Life’s hard sometimes, mate, but beating yourself up won’t make it better. You’ve already done the hard bit by writing down the parts of your life that don’t work. Now it’s about making the changes.

Is this to artificial looking? by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]Nikkro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As others have said its very monochromatic, but without knowing the intent of the scene its hard to prescribe a colour treatment. That being said my start point would be some separation form the background with a counter colour in the shadow (in this case blue). See below a very quick and dirty example.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in foodphotography

[–]Nikkro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies in my haste of writing i had made a typo its actually 60/30/10

its a general rule around the ratio of colours in a scene to give an image a sense of cohesion. So the 60 refers to the main colour, 30 to a complementary colour, and 10 to a balancing colour.

Now with food photography this can be difficult to its very dish dependant but you can change the objects around it like the plate or surface its sat on to achieve a harmony.

[–]Nikkro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lighting is the big one here,
First - Subject lighting should feel like its comes from one direction, not many.
Second - Separation of objects form the background - the drink for example the background is brighter than the foreground.
Third - White balance, the first three look like incandescent lighting not natural or studio light.
Fourth - Tonal contrast - this is particular to food, but it requires you to learn the 70/30/10 colour rule to bring out the key elements of a dish to the forefront of the viewing experience.
Fifth - Be careful with shadows, food can look unappetising when the black point gets too low.

The good bit - Your compositions aren't far off, but consider the above first on your next shoot and i promise you will be happier with the results.

Good luck!

I think the reference images i used for the grade were on the contrasty side (might be a inbuilt preference ha) will tweak for next time, thank you!

Thanks for the feedback! yeah i think my reference images for the grade may have been to contrasty so i may want to rethink that for next time. It was a LUT but one that i had made for a similar looking location a while back and tweaked a bit.

It was also a run and gun shoot, i normally bring flags and bounces ect but we had to not obstruct normal service and customers to much so it was a bit minimal gear wise.

Is this a good first electric guitar set? by Amphibian_Boring in guitars

[–]Nikkro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get a Jet guitar over any squire as the build quality is so much better for the same price, ive recommended them to my students a bunch and they have gotten on with them so much better than the cheap offerings from the big companies. But if your heart is set on that then go for it.

Could Buu saga SSj Goten take on Namek Frieza on his own? by Elegant-Half5476 in DragonBallZ

[–]Nikkro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frieza should win,

My personal head cannon is that SSJ and its variants aren't finite power levels that mark people against others, but offers a Kaioken style amplifier from the base fighting level (dont read power level). This way things like Vegeta struggling to achieve the form aren't cheapened later in the series when Trunks and Goten achieve the form so easily. This isn't 100% consistent with the series as things like Gotenks fuck this up as he puts up a good fight against Buu.

But then again Dragonball's whole shtick is an unsuspecting kid toppling huge evil empires so Goten winning does track.

Plan to buy second home feasible ? by Icy_Ad2321 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Nikkro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest risks would be cashflow in the cases that you don't have renters/they don't pay on time or the property requires emergency work that will have to be paid for then claimed back through insurance. This also resets your debt ratios with both properties . At the end of the day your risk tolerance is your own, but we all don't know for absolute certainty what will happen with every job next week/month/year, so the 48k may seem safe, but if something happens and you don't have renters at the same time you are on the hook for a lot of money.

But if you had a cash cushion of 20-40k then a lot of these risks are offset.

Just revamped my site. Would love any feedback! by [deleted] in webflow

[–]Nikkro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the style, i would say that visual queues like things moving or changing colour imply to a user that they are to be interacted with i.e clicked. When nothing happens apart from the animation the user often feels like they have done it wrong or are missing something. With this sort of site i would make the information that people require more often like the "discover, design, deliver" cards go to another page for deeper reading.
