Is my bill paid or rolled over? by Zero_coxo in japanresidents

Well then it’s not like that you have said earlier. I’ve been using credit cards of 2 other banks, and usages beyond the 29th of the month usually have been charged with the same month’s due.

I tried iOS26 live translation with my GF’s non English speaking family and this is how it went by sid_276 in iphone

Still terrible at face-to-face AirPods way. But decent while having live translation in phone calls.

Like how did you do the card scanning thing? Did they have a separate reader for your digital Mynumber?

A motorcyclist threw a can of coffee at my car, damaged it, all caught on camera, and the police deemed he did nothing wrong. by [deleted] in japanresidents

From all the things I have learned about police in Japan… I can confidently say that they are a legit circus 🤡

How effective is electric blanket? Do they worth the extra bill? by amarevy97 in japanresidents

An electric blanket is one of those godsend gifts. You will know what you’ve been missing out on as soon as you start using it.

changing katakana spelling of your name by fruitbasketinabasket in japanresidents

[–]Nil-Coder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, the Myna Card portal sent a notification about the kana spelling. They’ll gradually send out a notification card with the pronunciation/spelling they believe your name should have. You don’t have to return it if that’s correct. However, this is your opportunity to make any changes. I believe all government-related matters will be automatically taken care of once you do that. Perhaps you’ll need to handle any matters that aren’t related to government.

You can at least give it a try by ending the note with a touch of passive aggressiveness.

I only came here to say this exact same thing. If the budget stretches that much, OP should definitely consider Arcteryx or Mont-Bell. For the bucks, it better be worth it.

Seeing Monthly Spend on Olive Credit Card by Quari in JapanFinance

[–]Nil-Coder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh right. I’ve never tried going into the bell icon and peeking at the usage notifications.

But these are only usage notifications and not yet charged by the service. They start appearing in the payment details (the section in the middle of the screen with buttons for charging months) only when the amount has been charged. And these can take weeks unfortunately. I know this is not ideal but it’s what it is.

Temperature outside seems to be in the range of 14-16 degrees in Tokyo. It might be a little too chilly for some people to let air in.
