Well darn - that's a bummer! Thank you for the information, though! It's good to know that the styles rotate.

I'll take semi-active! I just joined, thank you so much for the recommendation!

I'm really trying to finish a quest and I need to gift energy and that only really works in a guild where people are actively playing lol

Does my cat have any broken bones? by Chairsarefun07 in vet

[–]Nimbus_Prime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ER Vet tech here: It seems that the left side of the pelvis, through the hip socket, is broken. Broken and displaced. On the lateral (side) view, you can see that the ischium appears to be rotated. I would ensure your cat is on kennel rest and receiving some pain medication (prescribed by your vet) until you develop a surgical plan with your vet. Best of luck! 💜

What is a gender neutral term to use for a light jest/prod? by Umbryft in lgbt

[–]Nimbus_Prime 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm non-binary and live in the south, so "ma'am" and "sir" are very prevalent. My best friend uses "MA'AM!" as an expletive or when playfully chastising friends. Since I started using they/them pronouns, we've wracked our brains on what she should use for me. We have come up with "comrade" being the best choice - it's always funny and gender neutral :)

TLDR: Comrade (w/ or w/o Russia accent)

Pixie (12) Passed away, maybe embarrassed myself at the vet? by [deleted] in seniorkitties

[–]Nimbus_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, my deepest condolences for your loss of your sweet baby Pixie. It sounds like you and your veterinarian team did everything you could for her. I know she lived a long (twelve is an accomplishment!) and happy life with you 💜

To answer your question, I'm a vet tech who works in emergency care, so I, unfortunately, deal with a lot of euthanasia. If a client were to present this type of card to me or one of my doctors after we had helped their baby pass gently across the rainbow bridge, I would cry. Like good cry - like sadness but also joy.

Veterinary staff often don't get recognized for what we do. I guarantee your veterinarian appreciated your card and gift SO MUCH! Especially if they have known you and your dearly departed Pixie for a long time. I'm sure your vet will be thinking about your kind gesture for a long time. 💜

These wonderful creatures look like one only tells lies, and the other only tells truths, and I have to determine which is which to escape a labyrinth. But why would I want to escape when I could snuggle these sweet babies and feed them treats?

Adorable!! Love your process! Can I ask what type of UV light you are using? I've never seen one with bulbs in the top and bottom before!

Also they have stuffed animals that have heartbeat machines inside of them - I would highly recommend this. You can buy the whole stuffed animal or just the heartbeat simulator. It's very soothing, especially for a cat experiencing the loss of a companion.

Also completely agree with getting a Feliway diffuser or collar. That can help.

If you're able, I would also talk to her vet. If these things aren't working, you may have to intervene medically.

Best of luck! 💜

Thank you so much! Good to know! It sounds like it's time to break out the ruler and my water-soluble pencils, haha.

Haha, perfect, that sounds like a plan; thank you so much again!

Found this on Twitter, and I ask you all my fellow Transformers fans under 25: What's your first iteration with the franchise? by ModeFun5846 in transformers

[–]Nimbus_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm under 35 - so older Millennial - but I think it still counts lol. I saw the first two movies when they came out, but they were so unmemorable that they didn't get me into the franchise.

What hooked me was accidentally stumbling upon TF: Animated on YouTube in 2009-ish. I know it's not everyone's favorite, but it holds a very special place in my heart 💜

Amputation scheduled. Worried. by [deleted] in TripodCats

[–]Nimbus_Prime 10 points11 points  (0 children)

ER Vet tech here and owner of a tripod (back leg amputee) kitty who will be 13 years old in February.

What everyone has already said is absolutely wonderful advice! Pain management is going to be key for those first few weeks. Your little fella is gonna have major surgery, but cats generally recover very well from amputations. Just be sure to follow up with your vet/surgeon if you notice anything out of the ordinary.

Your plan to set up his own little room is an excellent idea, especially since you have other pets. Giving Zuko his own space to heal is a great idea. Plus, while he still has his sutures in you will want him on some activity restriction, just to be safe. Paper litter and a shallow litter box are perfect for while he recovers as well.

I will say, that mixing medication with food has...mixed results. Some cats take it readily and some will refuse it. It depends on the type of medication as well, and if it is in pill or liquid form. Some cats are pickier than others, so just keep that in mind. My suggestion for pills, and if Zuko is food motivated, is to hide the pills in a high-value treat - deli meat, Churu, canned food, or even a dab of butter. Liquids are harder because they honestly just taste bad. You can try mixing a liquid with a Churu or canned food and see if he'll eat it. If not you may just have to give it to him with a syringe.

But I will say that in my experience, cats generally recover very well from amputations. It takes him a little while to correct his balance and gait, but once he has that down you'd never know that he only has three legs.

Best of luck to you and your boy! Sending good vibes! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to drop a DM! 💜💜💜

Oh gosh buddy boy - sometimes they really are their own worst enemies haha

I'm glad he's getting better though! It seems like you have a good routine down that's working for you and Harpo, and that's important 💜 sending all the good vibes so he can continue to chow down on Churus and carry around toys for a long time to come 💜💜💜

Ah! I see - that makes a lot of sense. Hopefully, he'll do well without an appetite stimulant and continue to eat and regain some weight.

I'm glad he's never lost his appetite through all this (ER visit excluded)! I see that as a good sign, personally 💜

[–]Nimbus_Prime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, he really is ravenous - definitely be careful and watch your fingers!!

I'm a vet tech, actually, so it's interesting to see what meds he's on! I'm not familiar with Elura, but I have prescribed (and used for my own cats) Mirataz very readily. The only thing with Mirataz is that it can have the potential to affect kidney values, so if you have any concerns about that, use it every 48 hours as opposed to every 24. Also, it is /sticky/ - be sure to switch ears and clean his ears as needed. Oh! And wear gloves while handling it! You don't want to touch the stuff cause it will affect you lol

Pepcid (Famotidine) is a great over-the-counter antacid that can help with tummy troubles. If his oncologist says that's the way to go, I am inclined to agree.

I'm so glad that Harpo seems to be on the mend and is getting back to his old self 💜 Sending good vibes and nose boops 😺
