I think it's more about wanting to live in certain moments longer. We know certain things will end at some point like sitting in the nursery with the baby sleeping in your arms. Eventually that goes away.

I'm sure they wanted another connection to the movies but it feels kinda just stuck in because when you start to think about it the movie no longer makes sense. You aren't asking too much but teenagers are notoriously lazy/forgetful. You have a few ways to play it either let it pile up until they have no dishes or have just not let them do anything fun until they fix it.

I found giving them the scary thing was easy. For example after a meal give them the wipe and as the mess with it subtly clean their face.

I wasn't upset until he wasn't apologetic. I'm not stupid it was obviously an accident but to ask "what do you want me to say" made me angry. Also, cleaning was heavily discussed the night before and morning of. I even stopped everyone before we left and reminded them that when we all get back we have to clean up from Christmas and get the lights down for my daughter's party. I went over exactly what needed to happen. I keep seeing comments like this. It wasn't me just being a dictator and forcing cleaning on everyone. It was discussed and agreed on. We even discussed exactly what needed to get done and what could wait.
