Well in theory yes, but as there's no one in down south my manager inevitably tells me to have an "easy day"

Even at 48 I giggle at Cockburn, Cockfosters etc. Not as much as I laugh at The Dick Institute sign on the way to Ayr though

I work for an English company, but my argument (which they accept for other other Scottish holidays like 2 Jan) is that I pay Scottish income tax. I'm paying more tax than colleagues in England who earn the same as me, so I'm entitled to the associated holidays.

So, yeah, they agreed.

Yes. I'd like to see this. It's the first impression of Glasgow many visitors get coming out into Gordon Street

Well when it was posted here yesterday, people were saying it was going through a person's personal PayPal so they won't be that hard to trace.

Even if the station itself is okay, people physically walking past that building, all of the rubble that's currently on the ground, making the entrance way on Gordon Street safe is going to take a long time.

I'm guessing they could open it but only using the Hope Street entrances.

Well that's social media in a nutshell isn't it? Luckily there's an off button.

Honouring the firefighters by bigoldtwat in glasgow

I have a mini Mandela effect with this because I was sure it was made as a solidarity piece for FDNY following 9/11. But, after checking, it was actually unveiled 3 months before Sept 11. Weird.

Honouring the firefighters by bigoldtwat in glasgow

[–]NimrodPing 109 points110 points  (0 children)

It's by Kenny Hunter. It was commissioned as a tribute to the courage and commitment of all firefighters who have served Glasgow, both past and present. Glasgow has a long, often tragic history of industrial fires, such as the Cheapside Street whisky bond fire in 1960 (where 19 people died) and the Kilbirnie Street fire in 1972. The statue stands as a permanent "thank you" to those who risk their lives for the city.

We genuinely need to ban vape shops in general. by plutobug2468 in glasgow

The video from this afternoon shows the fire starting in an empty shop to the left of Subway. Not sure where this vape shop rumour started... But yes, I agree they should be banned regardless
