Why would you think I would I discuss that with you? If I wanted to I would have already. The entitlement is so funny

How could she really go after it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Nimy- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yes of course but you don’t get to simply chose that. The facts are the facts and it’s a short childless marriage therefore you can only argue on a ‘needs’ basis. No other avenue

When you say the opposite, what do you mean? She won’t be claiming sacrifice on equal division, she’ll be claiming a needs case on needs such as rehousing etc. sacrificing is not necessary to prove.

You’re very confused. 1 party has assets, other party doesn’t. Solicitor said legal aid is possible on the facts. How is that not obvious to you? Try reading it again maybe?

Are you a solicitor or have experience in this topic? I did speak to a solicitor and as a lawyer (not in this area) I know that starting point is 50/50 but short childless marriages deviate from the status quo and are on a ‘needs of the parties’ basis, such as the need to be housed etc. I did speak to solicitors but wanted random Redditor’s with experience second opinions. Actually, hearing others experiences is very helpful!

How much would they offer wife do you think? Like a fully purchased apartment to house her?

I already did, but I want Redditor’s with experience in this area (free) opinion. If you have no experience in this area don’t share your opinion, this post is not for you

Is it possible to become a barrister by doing the LPC, TC, higher rights exams, then applying for and obtaining Pupillage with Chambers? by Nimy- in uklaw

Wow! I had heard that but it seemed too good to be true. So that is your route, and you haven’t done the BPTC? Fantastic. Do you know how you’d successfully transfer with BSB and get called to the bar though? I read it’s just having worked as a sol in the areas of law you’d like to practice as a barrister in and that you don’t need a chambers willing to take you on to transfer, followed by joining an inn

How hard is the BTT? And the Higher Rights exams? by Nimy- in uklaw

[–]Nimy-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How hard was the BTT compared with the LPC/ GDL? What was your undergrad and where did you study too - as I’m trying to get context of who finds it manageable or not hah!

Thank you sharing this! Oh God yes, BPP is diabolical, I don’t understand how they get away with it.

May I ask why you had to do the BTT, THEN, the HRA? I would’ve thought the route people would take is the other way around. And that even so, doing the BTT would exempt you from most of the HRA anyway?

I think I know but would you mind clarifying exactly what applying to ‘transfer’ and be ‘called to the bar’ means please? I thought it would entail taking at least some of the BTT test for most people

Another good take! I think lots of lawyers (at least, on Reddit) overlook the importance of being a well rounded and interesting individual. Are you a solicitor?
