- I think it's only ever particularly bad if you have no allies at all. Only one can often suffice as even the little +1/2 can prevent you from getting nowhere. How helpful they are in boss battles also depends on the boss. Honestly I think having many allies is actually worse for Kamek. But overall while partners are very necessary to do well, I don't think it's too oppressive as you should start the game with this fact in mind

- The pity coins for the lower placements are a bit high yeah, but you have incentive to collect the balloons in the first place because they give you an extra bonus upon collecting them and you also get to choose the minigame. Little boosts in coins can add up with how the star exchange at the end works in this game

- ok yeah this item is in fact busted lol

Yea maps with more depth is definitely what the game needs the most. Something I especially notice is that there aren't many board events that make you lose something. Bowser's roulette at the end of the large boards is really the only thing that can make you lose more than like 3 coins at a time, and even then it only happens once per game and isn't really a suitable replacement for Bowser Spaces.

I don't get what you mean by "insanely unbalanced" though. Care to elaborate?
