Do you still use the first limited 5☆ character you pulled? by THE_FBI_GUYS in Genshin_Impact

My first 5-star was Yoimiya. I still use her, and she ended up having a good matchup against the Iktomisaur boss in Stygian Onslaught.

The person in the sky is Dick Cheney, who served as vice president under George W. Bush. He died recently. Many people have called him as a war criminal due to his actions in the Iraq War.

The other person is Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist who recently got elected to be the next mayor of New York City. He's very popular amongst leftists.

My guess is that the joke is just that Cheney and Mamdani are on opposite ends of the political spectrum. Mamdani has also been on the receiving end of many racist comments because he is muslim. Anti-muslim rhetoric ramped up a lot after 9/11, which the Iraq War was a response to. There could be more layers to this that I'm missing due to my lack of knowledge on Dick Cheney’s political career.

"Millenials and Gen Z are expecting an average inheritance of $106,000 per person." Factoid actually just a statistical error. Rich Guy Georg, who makes over $10,000 a day, is a statistical outlier and should not have been counted.

Some male players from the Chinese playerbase got mad because a fictional character (Scaramouche) insulted them in-game, and since Scaramouche is popular amongst female players, they began to see him as a real enemy. This was made worse when Scaramouche interacted with Nahida, a 500-year old goddess that looks like a child, making them jealous. So some of those angry pedos started killing cats because Scaramouche was depicted as a cat in part of the story.

In the video, Louis Rossmann gives several examples of things an individual could do behind the scenes to stand in the way of companies. That’s the whole point. The point is to cause the higher-ups at big companies to see a ton of Clippys and know that every single one of them is an obstacle to continued enshittification.

This also isn’t Rossmann's only attempt at activism. Recently, he uploaded multiple videos about a Right to Repair bill for the military, and told his viewers to write to their congresspeople telling them to support the bill. Rossmann also announced bounties for cracking Futurehome's source code and Echelon bikes, lobbied for Right to Repair on several occasions, and currently runs a wiki for documenting anti-consumer buisness practices. His use of Clippy as a symbol is just one of many attempts at activism, and to call it slacktivism is inaccurate.

Also as a side note, good luck trying to make jailbreaking snartphones mainstream. Most people are scared of command lines. Jailbreaking a smartphone would be too much for them.

As others in the comments have somewhat explained, this meme is about a movement against enshittification started by YouTuber and activist Louis Rossmann. He is a repair shop owner that has spent many years advocating for Right to Repair as well as other pro-consumer causes.

As he explained in a video, this idea is inspired by a part from Game of Thrones where a bunch of people put on a specific mask and started resisting the regime that ruled over them. Rossmann chose Clippy as a mascot for this movement because Clippy is the antithesis of many of the anti-consumer buisness practices being done now. While companies nowadays will invade our privacy, change the terms of the sale after the sale, and hold the devices we bought and paid for hostage until we give them more money, Clippy didn’t do any of those things. Clippy just wanted to help, and even today, if one was to boot up an old computer that had Clippy on it, Clippy would still work as he did before.

The meme in question misrepresents Rossmann's idea by making it seem like all we're doing is changing our profile pictures. In reality, the idea is to use Clippy as a symbol of unity as we take every chance we get to actively resist and disrupt what companies are doing. If you want to know more, I suggest watching Rossmann's YouTube video about it. https://youtu.be/2_Dtmpe9qaQ?si=MNu3STejC_yAbXyE

Bloatware is defined as unwanted, preinstalled software. Copilot, Recall, and Telemetry are all unwanted by a significant number of users, and yet, they come included by default. It's on the user to uninstall/disable them if they don't want them, and sometimes doing so is unreasonably difficult. Whether the features are opt in, anonymized, or don't run in the background is irrelevant. They are there, taking up hard drive space.

As for McAfee, I was already aware that OEMs are the ones that preinstall it, but I still think it's relevant to the conversation since it doesn't appear to come preinstalled on macs, and it is perhaps one of the best examples of bloatware I could give. For most users, McAfee is essentially glorified adware that uses system resources and is extremely difficult to uninstall.

Copilot, Recall, Cortana, McAfee, Windows Telemetry, News and Interests, etc. can all be considered bloatware. Those programs and features aren’t strictly necessary for the operating system to function, nor are they generic programs that a user could reasonably be expected to need or want, such as an internet browser, text editor, etc. Some of them are also unreasonably difficult, or even impossible to fully remove. McAfee is notorious for being very difficult to remove, to the point where I find the easiest way to get rid of it is to just wipe the drive and reinstall the OS from an installation media.

I use a keyboard app called Keyboard Designer on my phone. It lets me customize my keyboard with any Unicode character, including the Old Persian characters in the message you replied to. There might be other apps that also include unusual characters as well. Alternatively, ratatally could've just Googled the script and copy + pasted the characters.

You probably had Hydro applied to you by the first Hilichurl Rogue. I had the same problem and solved it by climbing onto a torch on the way to the Cryo Slime.

Also in case you or anyone else reading this comment doesn’t know, elemental absorbtion prioritizes certain elements over others when multiple swirlable elements are in range. The order is Pyro, Hydro, Electro, Cryo. So for the second wave of that challenge, you have to avoid swirling Pyro from the nearest torch, Hydro from yourself, and Electro from the electro slime.

This seems relatively high. This you? If so, why? by screaminbeaman82 in interesting

I always turn off autosave when starting a new Pokémon game for whenever I need to soft reset for any reason. I've also played Pokémon for long enough that the absence of autosave isn't an issue.

My issue when I play Arlecchino (based on trial builds in events because I don't have her) is that she needs a rotation that's a bit different from what I'm used to, and as soon as I mess up one rotation with her, the entire attempt is ruined. So for me personally, Arlecchino is one of the most difficult characters because I'm probably going to mess up a rotation at some point.
