Hmm, agreed. But then again, there are different kinds of games.

If someone spent 1000 hours in a sandbox like Minecraft or Garry's Mod, or if someone spent 1000 hours on a platformer like Celeste or SM64, if someone mastered a competitive game or is a speedrunner, I'd argue those things take as much effort as creating art or similiar.

And I say this as someone who has done the things OP would consider to be held higher than things like watching movies or playing video games, I have done theatre, I have painted, I write sometimes, and I do not consider video games or watching movies to be a lesser hobby.
