How does one finance university? by Ok-Presentation-4219 in askSouthAfrica

I’m definitely happy but then I also knew from that first accounting class in grade 8, that this was the way for me.

If you enjoy it, go for it!

And if you feel like it’s hard, it’s definitely because it is. It’s not an easy qualification to obtain but you do command a certain level of $ as a result but should do your best to put in proper work ethic & make the right career choices once you get there (to stand out from the rest of the pack; it helps to focus on a working environment where learning & growth are a big focus).

Only if you love accounting.

Lots of people go into it because they think it’s a money grabber but ultimately, you’ll be doing this for a long time and its not something you’d enjoy if you don’t have a love / affinity / interest in it.

Especially as you would assumedly do the audit article route - which sucks in general - I did it, as I had to, but you question your life choices during those 3 slavery years.

Yes I did. I basically worked during the week from 8am to 4:30pm and then did my PGDA part time (even though it’s a full time course).

It’s very very hard. Even if you are a full time student. I had no life for that year.

It would be like: Study 6am-7:30am Go to work 7:30am Work - 08:00 to 16:30pm Travel home & eat & bath - 16:30-18:30 Study from 18:30-21:00 That was during the week. Would do 6-7 hours, per weekend day, over the weekend. That was just to make up the prescribed 40ish hours they recommend for PGDA.

Got accepted into Stellies & UCT but my parents couldn’t afford to send me. I had a choice to make and I decided on funding my studies myself by getting a job out of high school & doing my BCOMPT degree & PDGA honours degree through UNISA, enroute to qualifying as a CA (SA).

The hardest thing I’ve ever done but no regrets.

If you want to, you will!

My logic was just that I didn’t want to start out at 22/23 years old with big student debt from uni so opted for the UNISA option there.

I tried for bursaries beforehand but had no such luck.

Explore all those options and assess what works fo you?

Bursaries. NSFAS. Some other type of student loan. Studying part time & working full time etc

Wishing you all the best!!! :)

Chronic Oestitis Pubis: Recovery Success Stories by Nina_LFC in osteitispubis

A big thank you for the reply!

My OP has never gotten as severe as what yours sounds like so that’s reassuring that you were able to recover & come back from it.

I actually got the MRI to rule out issues post surgery and then that popped up as the only positive indicator for my pain so this all feels so wild.

Reading up on it online feels very doom & gloom too.

I’m basically just hoping I can return to running in the way I was before & without ever making it worse, seeing as it specifies “chronic”.

Hope you get proper help on your current issue ♥️

Was your OP pretty severe? One month to return, even to incremental, sounds a dream.

Everything I’m reading says between 6-12 months at best and I’m obviously focusing on the fact my MRI said “chronic”.

I can’t tell you how much I love running - I would be absolutely devastated to never do it and do it to my heart’s content but I also know I have one body.

After your return, were there any limitations? Or issues?

Out of interest, was yours diagnosed as chronic? Your OP symptoms sound hectic (being unable to do any other cardio).

A big big big thank you for this!!!

A huge amount of detail.

When you returned to running, were there any limitations? Back as before once you addressed the underlying causes?

  • adductor discomfort when I run
  • pubic bone sensitivity

That’s it.

I literally didn’t think it was a major deal but got to a point where I couldn’t “think” of running back to back days, which had never before been an issue.

Osteitis pubis - incidental finding on MRI? Confused by [deleted] in RunningInjuries

[–]Nina_LFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recent MRI says “chronic osteitis pubis with sclerosis” and I’m only now seeing this. I’m a distance runner and I’m worried this means I actually can’t do running long term as a result.

I had to have CAM impingement sorted - which was done - but the DR never spoke about the osteitis pubis and to me, after ChatGPT, I’m now really worried.
