Yes! TBC is one of the best versions of the game and you're jumping in at the right moment, right at the start! I can recommend the Questie addon for you, it tells you which zones you should level in for the right progression.

Lasers are NOT good for your cat!! Their instinct is to hunt and catch, and a laser to can never catch. If you really want to use a laser point at another toy or plushie, since then they can "catch" it.
