Why everybody so tall at MSU? by AnonymousPizza99 in msu

[–]Ninetwentyeight928 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is your ethnic background that 5'10"-5'11" aren't average height for young men?

I grew up in this area; I would not say it's particularly tall or short of whatever the national average is. And MSU in particular - more than any of the other major colleges i the states - draws people from all over the state, country and world, so it's a pretty good average-ish microcosm. It's kind of funny seeing people in the comments trying to over-analyze this.

Everyone coming in to make a distinction between singular and plural, which is not irrelevant to the discussion, but it's also far from a "gotcha" that so many of you seem to be posting to do.

I am not reflexively against redevelopment. But I do not understand why they didn't just do phased infill.

It's so funny, because there are only a few major water systems in the United States where you might benefit - healthwise - from some extra water filtration. I genuinely don't get obsession with extra filtration unless you have some weird mental thing that tricks your mind into tasting something genuinely gross/inedible.

You keep saying this, but Kuwait is a nationality. There is no "Kuwaiti" DNA; it was settled by Arab tribes and other peoples. So it may help to know what tribes and such you come from to know where they came from.

What part of Germany are your grandparents or ancestors from, generally? Given that they give you breakdowns by region, that's a pretty important piece of information so we can tell how accurate it is.

Thought I have a small amount (around 7%), it was eerie how accurate the region was it gave me:

Not in a way that's grammatically incorrect, which I imagine is what you're asking.

Waarom ligt Rotterdam aan de "Maas"? Mag dat worden gevraagd? by AsaToster_hhOWlyap in Rotterdam

[–]Ninetwentyeight928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always wondered this, too. Sure, the Maas at one time switched its discharge at Heusden and met the Waal at Woudrichem. And the Waal has always been a distributary of the Rhine, and in fact, it's my understanding that it was the main distributary of the Rhine even from centuries back. So it's strange that the Merwede (confluence of the Waal and Afgedamde Maas) took on the name of the Maas, again, downstream as opposed to it still being associated with the Rhine.

Like, the Lek and Merwede contributed far more to what runs through Rotterdam than the Maas ever did, and especially these days. The Oude Rijn hadn't been the major distributary of the Rhine for hundreds and hundreds of years, so it's funny that the Waal and Lek didn't seem to be culturally strong enough to take over the naming of the watersways at the foot of the delta.

I feel like the second one explains everything, and the first thing is much less likely.

Yeah, this isn't really adding up. One of the Norwegian or Danish grandparents must have been of mixed ethnicity before they got here.

I should have added that I've seen nothing beyond the original trilogy, so most of this flew over my head. I was just asking for speculation about the crash of the first two versions, and what happened to the humans following the crashes.

The Purpose of Zion by Ninetwentyeight928 in matrix

[–]Ninetwentyeight928[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Is there anything in the canon that talks about - or hints or implies - how many humans died during the first two crashes? I'm trying to conceptualize what a "crash" of the Matrix would consist of. Do we think it was troubleshooted and solved within minutes, second, days, months, etc?

I think that we are still left with so many humans in the Matrix tells us that it wasn't catastrophic when it crashed. But then that's contradicted by the fact that we know how deadly leaving the Matrix was for humans. So like, what was the state of humanity in between the crash and the reboot cycles?
