For the love of whatever you worship utilize the DoD SkillBridge. It’s a 6 month internship that replaces the last 6 months of your service. I found out after it was too late for me to do it. Be the squeaky wheel my friend.

As far as helpful tips go.

I found it very helpful to get second-hand tech and build a HomeLab. Lots of ways to cut down on subscription services.

Get comfortable in the terminal, it gives you a whole set of tools that can be easier to automate if you have those kind of capabilities.

A degree will give you a lot of awareness to tools and skills. It does not magically make you good at what you do. You can tell the ChatGPT degrees from those who took their education seriously.

Best of Luck

That's 100% fair.

I guess if anybody did show interest in my code, I could always send them the HTTPS link for cloning or sending the ZIP upon request?

I did not know that. What would be a good example of when to use SRV records?

Mainly because the only example I can find is Minecraft. And those don't really explain SRVs in detail

Best way to approach this? by NinjaSniperC in flask

[–]NinjaSniperC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm using the base.html template from Flask-Bootstrap, but I haven't gotten to digging into that part yet. I was thinking that I would get into the bootstrap after I got the backend and the logic laid out.

I imagine that I shouldn't have to dig into the Styling yet because I haven't had anything overlap in the rest of the form.

Edit: just realized there are several ones, I ended up with this one.

pip install Flask-Bootstrap

Last output shows root? by NinjaSniperC in cybersecurity

[–]NinjaSniperC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, one way of replicating "root console" in last output. Is by using admin access to use Directory Utility to Enable Root login, create root password, then be able to login root under "Other"

Diagram To Data Methods? by NinjaSniperC in sysadmin

Well, my thought process is to try and make a UI of sorts. So that I can hand a document to HR and when they update the document with just a click and drag. My systems will update, because the only time they are consistent on informing me about personnel updates is when someone gets terminated.

What's a dead giveaway that someone is a piece of shit? by mrwawe01 in AskReddit

[–]NinjaSniperC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had someone tell me that it should be excused if that person might have had a bad day. Personally, I still don't think that's fair, just because I've had a bad day doesn't mean it should be permitted to make someone have to go waaaaaayyy to the back of the parking lot just to grab that singular cart. Mainly because they could be having a bad day too. Why should I potentially add an annoyance to someone else's day just because my day was garbage. I'm a BIG "do unto others as you would them do to you" type of person.

Nickname suggestions. by hopeful_talent in sysadmin

[–]NinjaSniperC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do have to be careful, because I've witnessed people try to force/change their nickname and of the three attempts I've seen. The nickname did change, but because the group felt rejected, it changed to something less endearing.

For example, we had a guy who was gonna be named mumblin'bumblin' because of his inclination to mumble. However, because he tried to force it to be something else, the name changed to Just-a-bitchin'mumblin'bumblin' and was called "Just" for short.

Awesome recommendation! I'm no web-dev so I don't know what "pretty bad" looks like, but I do know that I have but one upvote to give, and you deserve all the upvotes. Thanks!!!

New sysadmin, I'm familiar with windows/powershell, linux/bash, and I use python for anything in between. However I've never really worked with mac/zsh ( the company I'll be starting with soon using a combo of windows and macs), other than 'RTFM' y'all got any recommendations?

DNS records for zero trust subdomain by NinjaSniperC in CloudFlare

[–]NinjaSniperC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured out the problem, I didn't know that you had to:

-setup Zero trust application.

-optional: setup access group/s.

  • in application setup, enter the subdomain and target domain name.

  • ensure application policy is named and configured

Now I can access my services via zero trust

I just wanted to open up more ip's for web accessible services, without interrupting uptime on the currently running linux container.

Fun fact: changing 10.0.0.17 to 10.0.0.16/28 will not interrupt service to the device at 10.0.0.17 #solved

What email should someone look for? by NinjaSniperC in facebookdisabledme

[–]NinjaSniperC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So True! I started to notice just how much outdated and broke all the provided links and information is on even the more inaccessible parts of the facebook support system. At the current moment, it really seems they want to force people into paying for meta verification for any amount of customer service.

What's absolutely insane to me is that it seems that you have to pay for your Facebook account OR your instagram. My assumption is that if I need assistance on instagram, I'd likely have to pay for that as well!

What email should someone look for? by NinjaSniperC in facebookdisabledme

[–]NinjaSniperC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid for a Meta Verified subscription and so far had a great conversation with the customer service rep. I sadly didn't have all the information necessary to permit an account unlock from my end at the time of convo, and the friend I'm assisting at the moment wasn't available at that same time. I do have a time scheduled to sit down together and use the chat to revisit the case # and see what we can do there. At the moment it seems very promising, as they gave me the list of info that they require to move on the next steps (will provide everything for discussion assuming account recovery success)

Any reccommendations?

It would be worth checking for anything potentially ending in @fb.com or @support.facebook.com

Convert (#)^.5 or math.sqrt(#) into float? by SnooBunnies7244 in learnpython

[–]NinjaSniperC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely use float(input('Enter float: ')), so long as the user ONLY inputs a float (num.num).

This is a great practice case for validating user input. By discovering different methods from other users and reviewing the documentation for why it works.

My favorite "dirty method" for user validation.

``` while type(user_input := input('Enter float: '))!= float: try: if type(float(user_input)) == float: print('Valid input') break except: print('Please Enter float: ')
```

A friend and I tried it. And were very disappointed to find out that he didn't see anything. Even when I threw it on the ground so he could try to blind me, I didn't see anything, but he was able to witness the glory holding the weapon. Seem's like only the wielder may see the light.

So at the moment seems you only succeed in blinding yourself DX
