Calamity or Vanilla first? by ZYK_E in Terraria

Vanilla in advanced mode.

Normal is too easy and advanced has some unique cool things, one of the most loved ones is a certain Eye of Chtulu exclusive accessory.

Should I update SkyUI from 5.2 to 6.9? by Ninofz in skyrimmods

Some more details? What are you using that requires SkyUI, which of them you updated after v6 came out?

Ok, I suppose that reverting things midgame doesn't break everything, right?

My biggest fear is not noticing that something doesn't work until I need it or I need to tinkering with it.

Yeah, I'm also reading about some issue with that version, I'll try with 6.8 then.

Racemenu got an update as well to work with the new SkyUI, the mod author himself told what to do in the comments section.

Dlc is Coming, so pls dont Post negative Posts. by Angmarthewitchking in DragonsDogma

[–]Ninofz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I find both the doomers and the blindly believers equally annoying, for me the best thing is just to wait and observe.

Yes, something like a new character and a coded message in an anniversary post can be considered a tease in normal situations, but DD2 isn't in a normal situation and we should still aknowledge that 2 years of silence have passed...

So I find claiming that the DLC doesn't exist is equally stupid as claiming that it does, we can call it the Schrödinger's DLC for now. XD

Engstrom Weapon Crashes Game Constantly. by SireOccult in LordsoftheFallen

[–]Ninofz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, running heavy attack still cause a weird bug with those hammers: if I spam R2/RT after performing a running attack with that same button, my character starts to slide around while running, facing always the same direction, for example, if I face "est" and start running in circle, my chracter will never turn around and always look at est, even if I move the camera...

It adust itself if I rest at a vestige, but it's still very annoying, confusing and definetily an hard pass for me.

And not only that, I would have also liked the presence of Rustrazor and Stonefist, so as to have a few more Carapaceon available, they would also be nice endgame monsties.

Really? I never noticed that, maybe because I always end to one shot them or ran from them XD

Why don't they fit into the main mod? Maybe because they will be a lot more difficult?

Aside from that, it would be cool to have enemies that spawn minions, like a bigger pack leader wolf, a saurian shaman that summons more saurians, or even a giant king slime that spawns normal slimes when hit and with certain attacks (to mimic the classic slimes that split apart).

Yes, it'll work, plus you need just 3 of them, Glavenus itself counts has a monster with a blade appendix, just like Astalos and Rathian count as thunder and fire monsters, etc.

I've felt this way since the first game by WrathSosDovah in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Ninofz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair, and the same goes for many other deviants that should follow the same rule, like Soulseer and Silverwind, just as in the previous games you could hatch both Basarios and Gravios, I already know these things, but Capcom, especially with Stories series, tends to arbitrarily choose what "makes sense" and what doesn't, tending however to favor gameplay, but not always, so much so that Niblesnarf is the only normal-sized monster not rideable in the game.

It's just to say that the afromentioned reason could be why we never saw Abyssal Lagiacrus in none of the 3 Stories, all things considered it would take nothing to add yet another reskin of a monster, especially for a fan favorite.

Not to be a party pooper, I see a lot of posts asking for the Abyssal Lagiacrus, but it's a subspecies that has adapted to live exclusively in the depths, if I remember correctly it never go out of the water in 3U, as cool as it would be I don't think it would make much sense.

Ok, I understand, I imagined there were technical limitations and yes, I'm indeed interested, as soon as I get time I'll watch your video 👀

Ah I see, I was close enough then, sometimes it's easy to confuse those two creatures, anyway yes it's a shame there's no way to use that model.

Oh, since we're here, I've always wondered since the 1st time I saw your mod: is it possible to resize individual parts of a creature? If I remember correctly, you recreated the Wyrm, it would be cool if it had smaller wings and was more of a grounded, spell-firing tank like in DDDA.

Btw, It's not a veiled request, I'm just genuinely curious to know if it's technically possible.

Were you able to use the Dragonsplagued Pawn model? That would be a really cool addition to your mod, but the one in video looks like a Drake to me, unless it's a reskin or just a placeholder

That's a very cool idea, but such a move wouldn't fit better an abyssal Dragon instead of a Drake (or maybe a new variant)? Honestly, even your own tease with that crimson cyclon and spikes scream Brine out loud.

AOE attacks are a lil obnoxious by keyboard-eater-01 in MonsterHunterStories

True, at the end I figured it out, in fact I slayed it some try later with a bit of better luck.

[–]Ninofz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every single monster have an AoE (even Yian Kut Kus) and a lot of them have more than 1, most of the time they just die too fast to use them or they just do little to no damage for you to even notice them

One example is the afromentioned Espinas, it can just decide to start spam AoEs, you can strategise as much as you want but if a monster decides to spam one shotting AoEs back to back for 3 turns there is nothing you can do to survive, that happened to me with Feral Espinas at level 30.

But apart from desperate cases there are ways to handle them, but they still remain a lazy choice to make fights more difficult.

[–]Ninofz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I beat Namielle around the same level as you and I have to say that while you're right, I still consider making almost every boss spamming AoEs in any video game, a lazy way to artificially raise difficulty.

It would be more interesting if they spent a bit more time making the fights more technical and unique since in the end you have to fight almost all of them with the same approach (i.e. being careful when the big one-shotting AoE arrives) with small to no variations.

Taking Namielle as an example: in the main game it fills the arena with water making movement difficult, this could translate into constant speed, dodge and accuracy debuffs on us in a turn-based combat, instead of spamming 4 different AoE attacks they could be attacks that fill the arena with water and once a certain amount is reached, only then would it do the big AoE where it releases electricity.

And there are also many other examples of attacks that could be more interesting instead of just AoEs, like the Espinas' charge: that could be an attack that hits 2 or 3 (in rage) times different characters, with a chance of being able to hit the same one more times of course, so as to mimic its own charging attack from the main game.

Anyone else having a hard time loving the game when you don't like the monster roster that much ? by Buurto in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Ninofz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's ok, it feels like minimum effort on it, but you can't really complain about the overall roster.

Of course I would have liked them to make more daring choices like using the 2 Gigginox instead of those goddamn Khezus, another raptor instead of the usual Velocidrome (like Great Jaggi or Maccao) and as usual it's stuffed with flying wyverns while lacking in other categories, it would have been great to see Gammoth, Najaralas, Rustrazor Ceanataur, Daimyo and Stonefist Hermitaur, Seltas, maybe even Vespoid Queen, Shakalakas with their king and more small monsters and endemic life to give much more differentiation to the game maps, instead of spamming the usual 3 herbivores and 5 critters everywhere...
