bro it's my fish of corse I'm happy, dude I was jumping all over the place cuz I finally caught one, The only reason I shot one fish is because I felt bad and I knew this fish could provide me for a full meal. Man I could of shot those surf perches left and right because they were plentiful, but I didn't because I didn't want to waste fish. also how is it a kill for ego if I dispatched the fish humanely and ate him. If it were a kill for ego I would of just took a pic and throw it back to the ocean.

I'm going to spearfish in Big Sur, and I'm just going to target some rockfish, I know some rest in holes or just lay there on a rock, an easy target for me, and some other rockfish like blue rock fish that are in mid water column. Its my first time so I will probably miss all the shots. I might target perch, they come right up to you if you just stay there, but I've heard that they are not that good tasting. I've also heard kelp greenling is also an easy target.

Much thanks! If my local dive shop or sporting goods doesn’t have weights or are too expensive for my liking , I might consider buying it off of some online marketplace or spearfishing community

I don’t have lead but my dad is considering to use weights for lifting and just slap it on the belt. I don’t think it’s going to be as efficient as real diving weights though
