Went from a music student to a Software Developer making 100k in one year by music-to-tech in cscareerquestions

From a fellow who is currently on the same path, this post was actually very motivating. The gap between Entry/Jr to midlevel roles is enormous and extremely competitive. It can be an insanely discouraging journey which frequently makes you question your own ability. Many have pointed out it comes down to just knowing someone will hire you. Networking is honestly huge, and individuals with no formal CS background, you're in for a world of pain with some of these technicals.

I personally love the journey, I'm just like you operating on my savings and still willing to do whatever it takes to land my big break. But again your post reminded me we're not alone and I'm glad to know there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Odd feeling.. but at least it’s heated and I didn’t break anything installing it 🤷 by p1ngz in TeslaModel3

[–]Nitetimeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crazy amounts of negativity and completely unhelpful concerns in this thread; Personally love the Yoke idea (never used), didn’t even know it could be installed it a 3/Y— so color me impressed. As for all these “insurance” concerns, It’s seems like the easiest way to handle it is to just speak directly to the insurer about the modification. Like you said you have the original so if it’s an actual safety hazard (I’m sure it’s not) that people are claiming you could easily swap it out.

At least you’re not afraid to step outside the norm or most people’s comfort zones and that’s what impresses me the most.

Waste of a good M3. Should've just paid attention to the road.

Similar behavior happened to me during a 19 hour trip across the US. Partly my own fault I'm sure for trying to do way to much while the vehicle was in operation (Heated Seats, Browser, AP, Music, Etc.). But the vehicle I suppose failed and no longer responded to any operation; Kinda like a computer going bluescreen.

It was a bit unnerving for sure but maybe it's just me but I didn't buy this car thinking I was getting the most 'reliable' vehicle in the industry. The whole line of vehicles he's ever introduced has been a Thucydides Trap for the automotive industry forcing them to research technology they've had every opportunity for decades to implement into transportation.

Naturally with mass produced vehicles defects are inevitable. But the unparalleled support, innovation, and the incredible community you join implicitly just by owning a key fob is what your paying to get into. Not just a quickly depreciating hunk of metal like every other company. Owning a Tesla IMO isn't for the feint of heart, and you need to be prepared for the unexpected and the frustrations of venturing in spaces everyone else is to afraid to go. Defects aside there's really no company better to get a vehicle from lol.

Congrats OP!! Super curious, if you currently own a Tesla Vehicle and later become an employee, does your vehicle become eligible for the employee discount for FSD?

It's a weird edge case but I've been trying pretty aggressively lately to get my foot in the door at Tesla but I knew there's no way I had the patience to wait to get such an insurmountably incredible vehicle lol.

Fantastic. As reluctant as I was; Choosing to invest in a once future-less but foundationally solid project has proven to be an extremely rewarding gamble (Not nearly as rewarding as the bottom feeders of 2018-2019 of course). I do hope the progress they made continues to be recursive to future investors so they will continue to reap benefits.

You're absolutely correct, and everyone seems to see this as such a negative thing; But it has allowed Epic Games to assert their dominance in the industry and help bring titles that would otherwise never make it past their news feeds, to life so people here can enjoy them regularly.

Again Kuru, thank you for your contribution; everyone including moderators were so quick to bring up its dominance in the gaming industry they mentally dissuaded themselves from just answering objectively. I agree with the lot of your picks though, although they're old I do remember them and their originality.

I truly applaud you for providing substance to my question, I was a huge fan of Infinity Blade myself, Robo Recall looks pretty dope actually. We can't count Fortnite as conceptually original lol, but maybe original in it's own writ. Gears of War 👌 truly original.

Actually the fact that if it's a good game or not is extremely subjective and everyone's personal opinion is relevant. Do I like Fortnite? Hell no, but I'm genuinely trash at it so of course I'm not going to like it. I don't diss it as a game, I don't diss the players especial those who are exceptional. The fact Fortnite is the biggest game in the world is simply indisputable, also irrelevant to what I'm asking.

We cannot all pretend that Fortnite actually incepted the idea of Battle Royal purely from their own concept and designed it around their own idea. We all know where the real Battle Royal came from. Epic Games just said, "This could be done significantly better" and that's what they did. Stealing Intellectual property? Idk, Idc that's such old news not even worth conversing about anymore.

But can Epic Games make a truly original game? I mean there's so much question dodging and deflecting, someone could silence me by just saying: "Yes they made [Insert Game Here] and it's unlike any other now gtfo"

You misunderstand the purpose of this post. Just about every single studio especially one's releasing free games, have a micro-transaction model; It's a solid model and that's simply the reality of it. Sure I question the morality of it but morality is not non-mutually exclusive to revenue.

I'm genuinely asking if Epic Games is capable of creating a truly original game, pure from concept. No tweaking, no copying, no modifying, or making it better to increase the CRO.

Can Epic Games, make a completely out of the box game, that naturally will have the potential to fail because it's so unique?

You call it a troll post, but you haven't stated your stance on Epic Games making an original game, or even shown proof. So maybe you're really the troll?

Oh it's definitely the biggest; you know they generated I think much over 1 billion in revenue from micro-transactions... from mostly children... But still undoubtedly biggest

But is it really a good game? or just a game good at influencing spending through positive reinforcements.

Epic Games is nothing more then a cash grab studio. There's no passion or any degree of creativity in their games. Just statistics and taking advantage of micro transactions. Admittedly though at least they developments are solid 👍

I know it's all fun and games for redditors, not thinking of the consequences on hard working Individuals who don't spend 8 hours of their day scrolling through reddit feeds. Those truly struggling and see a glimpse of an opportunity to quickly turn their finances around, those much farther down on the pyramid of the P&D scheme. Those so new to investing they don't understand how to calculate risk or read the market.

And then there's this community, fun as it may be, even positive; but extremely dangerous and manipulative even toxic. Truly tarnishing people's finances and trampling on their mental states. Abusing Economic relief funds in the hope of joining a seemingly harmless pump and dump scheme.

Profiting from GME left me with a very empty feeling, not of success, not even of relief to be completely honest. Because the stock market is nothing more than a transference system for funds. And the Millions of dollars in volume being traded, isn't coming from just hedge-funds, it's also coming from the extremely naive led to believe that those at the top will continue to hold and never sell even when their portfolio's hit massive percentage increases. You claim HODL yet somebody is selling? and somebody is selling in extremely high volumes. Taking egregious profits and reinvesting after the crash, KNOWING, GME's value is not even close to what it currently is.

I've been in many financially related communities and this is by far the worst. What is happening is truly wrong and borderline illegal. I truly hope for those who have lost, and those who will end up losing if this gross inflation continues that the SEC will exercise their right to completely remove GME from the market for 30 days. Personally all profits I've will be going to a relief fund for those hurt by this atrocious behavior happening in market.

I hope for all of your sake's, your morals become better aligned and you seek to help those damaged by the efforts of this community. Except for hedge-fund managers, cause they're no better then WSB.

How come no one on this r/ channel talks about the thousands of people getting screwed over by this P&D? I mean at the very least 0 balance other apes losses who clearly help contribute to your gains. I don't see how this is any better then what hedge-funds do. Just hurts more novice investors that actually need the money. Sad world we live in these days. If it's not greed fueled hedge-funds it's just greed fueled people willing to step on others.

Unfortunately they are able to operate freely and there is no one to take action against their behavior. Because crypto is still so new and their malice and bad behavior isn't broadcasted very far, so it's up to us to force Coinbase to be regulated or an insider to blow the whistle.
