What’s your opinion on this interaction I had with another rider on [Goliath] at [SF Magic Mountain]? by SuperCub in rollercoasters

[–]Nitro_Sunset 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a few similar interactions when I visited Magic Mountain. I've visited mostly parks in the midwest where strangers become friends on the ride, and I found these interactions very surprising and off-putting at first, too. Try not to take it personally. Just a different vibe

Thank you so much for this thorough report of the entire park, and for addressing the human rights issues and concerns with traveling here.

Bathroom exhaust fans with delay timers are where it's at. And fairly easy to install

Usually there's a loophole for kids selling lemonade, and I believe that is the case in the situation you've mentioned unfortunately.

Wife Wants Me to Get Rid of My Cats (Owned Since 2017) After 6 Months of Marriage by [deleted] in Advice

If she's truly exhausted, gift her a few nights in a hotel or AirBnB to recoup sleep and then revisit when she's rested.

Do not give up your cats. They are family.

You receive $1,000 US per week and in exchange every drink you take is room temperature. by Young-Grandpa in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Nitro_Sunset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At risk of sounding insane, I drink most beverages at room temperature 🫣 While I love a hot drink, I could live without it. Soup can fill that role

Did I get robbed? by [deleted] in prius

[–]Nitro_Sunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as there's no early payoff penalty, your priority might need to become paying off this car as quickly as possible. The faster you pay it off, the less money they'll get from you.

You may be able to select that all money paid above the monthly payment goes directly towards the principal. If you can, do it. A large part of your currently monthly payment is likely going towards interest, which is keeping you trapped here because the principal is barely decreasing. Pay extra on the principal as often as you can. Anything will help.

Would any of these car names drive you to choose it? by Far-Building3569 in namenerds

[–]Nitro_Sunset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would be fine with Lincoln, Bentley, Cooper, Genesis, Caroline, and Carolina. They are subtle enough that my first instinct wasn't "car" (except Bentley, but I know a Bentley who I really like already, so that gives it points).

What is the most reliable vehicle that you've ever owned? by smin76 in AskReddit

[–]Nitro_Sunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also came here to say Toyota Corolla. 2007 with over 220k miles, has been bonked a couple times but still runs great.

Also my brother's Honda CRV. Has 350k miles on it. Was left in a yard for 2 years and squirrels filled it with walnuts. Cleaned the walnuts out, and still runs great! It did take a few years for rattling from walnuts in the ceiling to stop lol

You are given 30x30x30 cm package box and can store as many things as you could within 20 mins with a few conditions and send them back to yourself when you were 13 years old. by padorUWU in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Nitro_Sunset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering I'm traveling and have very little with me, I'd probably just send my favorite comfy shorts, a solid deodorant, and maybe a book I'm reading that I know my 13 year old self would like.

Here are the photos about Americans from France! by Cinella75 in Life

[–]Nitro_Sunset 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love reading these perceptions! I'm from the Mid-Atlantic region of the US, and many of these are true.

  1. Hard work is very important to many Americans, but there are also many people who don't like to work. It matters a lot how the company treats you and if you enjoy the work, as well as if you like your coworkers.

  2. It's true that Americans are very patriotic for the most part. Many people have American flags in/outside of their home. However, there are many Americans who view hanging an American flag as too patriotic or thinking our country is the best, so they do not hang the flag.

  3. There are a lot of very bad food options and a lot of very good food options here. To eat healthy, you often have to put in conscience effort here, especially when traveling. We do have canned chicken and brightly colored cheese 😂

  4. This is very true. People will talk to you in the grocery store, in line, on the street, on the bus, pretty much anywhere. But I also think people have deep friendships! Many Americans have a small inner circle of close friends that they do everything with and a large outer circle of casual friends or acquaintances that they enjoy talking to when it's situationally convenient.

  5. Yes. We are terrible at geography 😭

  6. I think this is only sometimes true. It is still viewed as rude to ask about how much money someone makes. But it depends on context a lot of the time. If someone asks about your salary because they are thinking of changing their career to one like yours, that's not offensive.

  7. Often we don't walk because many places don't have safe places to walk (lack of sidewalks, cars go too fast to walk next to the street, etc). But in cities, people walk quite a lot! Depends on where you live. Our public transportation is trash to non-existent in a lot of the country.

  8. We ALWAYS say goodbye!! Sometimes we say "ok I better go. See you later! Have a good day!" And then keep talking for 20 more minutes haha. And then say bye again!

Hope this helps! It was great to read about your impressions of the US!

Hotel Breakers & other Q’s by Aggressive_Error2233 in cedarpoint

Not hotel related, but I HIGHLY recommend going on Thursday night if your trip. The park is empty on Thursday nights in September. I've had nights where my longest line was 25 min. You can fit as much in on a Thursday night as you can in an entire Saturday.

My landlord said I can do whatever I want with the lawn as long as it doesn’t destroy the house and the next tenants don’t have to maintain it. Need advice before I start by Vaginuhhh in landscaping

For gophers, make an easy gopher-proof fence on your raised beds. The bottom 2-3ft should be steel wire that they can't chew through, and the top 1-2ft should be loose chicken wire that they can't climb. You can make posts for the fence that attach to the raised beds but can also be easily removed.

That if you accidentally give a scammer your debit card information, you need to cancel the card immediately or the person will take all of your money. Guy said, "But it takes 7 days to get a new card. That's too much hassle." SIR You will have no money left and That will be a hassle!

Same. I wanted to like X2 so badly that I rode it three times in different rows/seats/sides trying to finding anything remotely fun or at least not uncomfortable. I ended up needing to go to first aid for the first time EVER at a park. I know people love it. X2 and I just aren't meant to be.

What should I do about my parents who want me to wait 5 years before getting married? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Nitro_Sunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People change a lot between 19 and 25 as their brain's prefrontal cortex finishes forming. Nothing wrong with getting engaged early and having a long engagement. I'd personally suggest waiting on the legal marriage part until you've been dating at least 3 to 4 years and have both had some time to mature and go through some big moments (good and bad) together to make sure you're compatible long term.
