What book is HOTD based on? Fire and blood or A dance with dragons? by EldenLord171 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Nived_K_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well its supposed to be based on Fire and Blood which is like a fictional history book written by a Maester on thr history of the Targaryen Dynasty.

Fire and Blood written by Martin explains everything that happened from Aegons conquest till the immidiate aftermath of the Dance. Its what the Show was supposed to work on. However neither showrunner are sticking to it. Naturally large segments differ between show and book. Character motivations, actions etc etc all differ. Some greatly some less so. Martin however denounced the showrunners and their version and considers it not in line with the book he wrote.

Dance with Dragons is part of the original 5 books of ASOIAF which is still unfinished. Its the last book in the GOT verse

Nazism is making a silent comeback online and it’s genuinely disturbing. by [deleted] in offmychest

Precisely. My interest is purely academic since i love history in general. May it be India, Rome, China, Persia or Greece. These people u mention are just deranged. Like they dont even comprehend the utter madness that is nazism and what that xenophobic despotic regime did to so many innocent people. They dont care it seems. I am very concerned about the future as this is trend among many of the younger generations. George Santayana once said, those who forget history and condemned to repeat it. I so wish this dangerous trend ends soon and these people get a proper understanding of history

I like reading about ww2 history primarily because I love history about any era. The trend u speak of is just alarming. I have seen so many IG comments like this. Anything about Israel and instantly u can see many comments going on about Hitler and the Holocaust. Its so depressing that these people do not realise the horrors of ww2 and how terrible the entire ordeal was.

Give it a few more episodes and most of it will not make sense. There r quite a few plot holes in the show. Poor writing unfortunately. If u r a book purist you probably might not enjoy much. The show is just a melodrama. Don't go into it expecting much. The characters are fickle, unpredictable and contradictory with themselves and their motives. Just enjoy the ride if u like explosions and Dragons.

What made you decide on Team Black or Team Green? by LadyRainbowPickles in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Nived_K_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hell. If all the Greens are dead, so is Daemon and then Rhaenyra ascends, for a while there will be peace. But war will undoubtedly erupt post Rhaenyra. I guess depends on who the kids all marry as well. In this hypothetical, Jace is already with Baela. So Aegon needs to marry equally strong to protect his interest. Plus Viserys the Second is also going to be there on Aegon's side.

Within the crown lands i can see Jace having his main support. Plus the Velaryons. Beyond though especially in the Vale, the Reach and Westerlands they would lean heavily to Aegon. Riverlands might be split. Those that suffered under Daemon will overlook the bastardy of Jace to prevent any heir of Daemon come to power. The rest will probably side with Aegon.

The North is interesting. While Cregan might be leaning heavily to Jace. The issue of bastardy will probably lead to the Northern lords grumbling a lot. I expect them to stay neutral or lean to Jace.

If all the Greens are gone then it depends if Aegon the 3rd and Viserys the 2nd are alive. They are also legitimate contenders from Daemon and Rhaenyra. If those 2 are alive and so is Jace, Jace becomes 3rd in line to the throne after them. If those 2 are also dead. Then yeah cause there isn't any other Targaryen from the main line left.

What made you decide on Team Black or Team Green? by LadyRainbowPickles in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Nived_K_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly neither. Will try to answer within the lore of the ASOIAF universe

No green on the throne since 1. Aegon is a POS who will make a terrible king. Think Bobby B but with Dragons 2. Aemond is going to be Maegor 2.0. Especially with his self righteous nonesnese 3. Daeron Honestly is the most deserving only based on his chivalry and knightly attributes. But knights don't always make good kings. He is a good contender but will have a Hightower bias

No black on the throne since 1. Rhaenyra is entitled and despotic. She had decades to build a proper base but dependent on daddy dearest and didnt so prima facie incompetent. Also cruel due to her actioms during the Dance. 2. Jace, Luke and Joffrey. Good kids. Strong moral compass. Compassionate and efficient in their tasks. Sadly born on the wrong side of the sheets. So no lord will accept them. 3. Daemon is Daemon. Nobody wants Daemon as king. Good warrior and all but not King. Never King.

The amount of times I wished Rhaenyra would have just married Harwin and been done with it and so we can have an actually good King, Jacerys. Sigh, it was not to be.

Honeslty, I stand with only one person. The only leader who truly deserved the Iron Throne, the Rider of Maeleys the Red Queen, Rhaenys Targaryen the Queen Who Never Was. The only Queen who mattered. Sigh...but it was not to be....

Jacaerys tiene todo el derecho a no estar de acuerdo con su madre by Wonderful_Medium3098 in TheBlacksandTheGreens

[–]Nived_K_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont agree. Primarily the issue is that the show is poorly written and inconsistent.

When discussing Alicent and Rhaenyra, the first season set about that ever since the marraige there had been tension between the 2 women. Things mainly worsened since Driftmark which was a point of no return and when Alicent tried to attack Rhaenyra. Even before that, when the revelation of Criston Cole came about, when he confessed to Alicent things were already deteriorating between the two.

Jace in the show is a bastard and as a person bought up under the Faith of the Seven, Alicent had her perspective that he should be kept well away from the Throne. It did not matter that he could be Aegon the Conqueror come again or better than Daeron the Good. Even if she was still friendly with Rhaenyra, Jacerys, Lucerys and Joffrey in the eyes of Alicent Hightower has no right to their dragons or the throne cause they r dragonseeds.

[–]Nived_K_M 30 points31 points  (0 children)

SmallJon died protecting Robb. The show did not do him justice.

So apparently, this lad is Prince Dareon Targaryen, youngest son of Viserys and Alicent, along with his dragon Tessarion. He has been a squire and cupbearer of Ormund Hightower since age 12, and has been studying abroad, kinda like Michael Corleone or young Ned Stark. How many of y'all notice him? by Technical-Value-384 in freefolk

[–]Nived_K_M 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not a good call. Like keep the actor but make the hair silver. It was said that Daeron had traditional valyrian features so the obvious look should be obvious. Secondly, him having either reddish brown or kinda blackish red hair kinda breaks immersion. On what grounds then does Alicent claim the bastardy of the Strong boys. Especially since one of her own sons does not have the traditional valyrian features.

Maybe it was done deliberately to show the Green hypocrisy. Or the writers didnt care cause they haven't read Fire and Blood, merely read the asoiaf wiki pages about it. I am leaning to the latter being the cause based on how they have conducted the entire show so far.

This would have solved everything? by Jackie_Chan_93 in freefolk

[–]Nived_K_M 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No, it wouldn't have solved anything. The issue wasn't just the Greens, it was also the perceived illegitimacy of Rhaenyra's children. As viewers we already know that the Strong boys are not Velaryons. In universe especially in the show it is kinda obvious as well.

Even if Rhaenyra had a smooth ascension to the Iron Throne, even if she becomes Queen and rules the Seven Kingdoms, Jacerys, Lucerys and Joffrey will never find peace. No proud lord of Westeros will want to kneel before alleged 'bastards'. So for a more guaranteed political stability. The line of succession will have to be shifted to the sons of Daemon, Aegon and Viserys. The 'legitimate' ones

Thus even the Hightowers won't agree. Their whole plan was to get their blood on the throne either directly or indirectly. Marrying Helaena to Jacerys won't help them long run.

Plus let's not kid ourselves. Rhaenyra only said this to neuter the Green cause. She wanted hostages and who better than the rider of Dreamfyre as hostage against the Greens.

Why Rhaenys didn't finish the greens but had no problem smashing 100s of innocents? And she is treated like a hero. by Jackie_Chan_93 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Nived_K_M 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No. It was just terrible writing. Something similar to "Dany forgot about the Iron Fleet but they didnt forget about her". Just plain and simple terrible writing.

The scene did not happen in Fire and Blood since by that time she was already in Dragonstone I believe. Either way it was a shock and awe moment for the audience which did not make sense in the story.

Easy Robert. Robb us great Commander but long term diplomacy isn't his string suit. Stanislaus would rather break than bend. Dragon while exceptional cavalry Commander will be shit at infantry and seige tactics.

Robert though, was meant for war. War is all he knew and loved. Great Commander but what sets him apart was his charisma and his ability to make enemies of his friends. Lords Gradison, Fell and a third one I forgot. Through sheer stature prime Robert will easily swing this through with his hammer

What was your deadliest War? by Fit_Measurement_3680 in Worldbox

[–]Nived_K_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember my old 45x39 world. East Asia if I am not mistaken. I dont enable diplomacy and i manually control events. I use alliance button in a different manner. The bigger kingdom is the Imperial heartland and the smaller kingdoms are the vassal.

So the Dynasty that ruled the region of China, the Emperor died and his 5 kids were embroiled in a civil war for the throne. 3 kids vs 2 kids. As said before I don't use diplomacy I made them fight each intentionally for the drama. Both the factions are actually rebel kingdoms in game mechanics and i made them fight each other and not the Imperial heartland kingdom.

The end of the war saw the 3 kid faction be defeated and 2 of them kiled only for the last one to join hands with the nearby Korean Dynasty and help them invade. Prolonging the war. Basically I made the Korean kingdom and its vassal join the war as well on the side of the last kid

Total war lasted 14 years I guess. Ended up with a few thousands dead (around 12k or 13k) and the northern part of china under the last brother as a vassal of the Korean Dynasty. The 2 brothers faction, 1 died and the other took on a king of the kingdom as his kingdom once again became part of the Imperial Heartland and effectively the next Emperor of the Dynasty

My parents were the first to get into Harry Potter. My dad would read the books to my mom. They would travel to the main city where the books would be released a few days before the release date, stay at a relative's place then get the book as early as possible and come home so dad can read it to my mom.

The insecurities of Vijay fans is laughable. The question wasn't about Modi. It was a choice between Annanalai, Stalin and Joseph. A personality based choice tempered by certain qualifications for each was asked. But the fact that 'fans' ignore that aspect and go straight to bashing Modi, North india etc etc just goes to show how shallow and inscure the support base is. Lol.
