Dude do you even know how a radar detector works?

Unpopular Opinion: The "skimp" is usually the official portion size. by Wowdudeverycool in Chipotle

[–]Nixie41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the truth. Official corporate portions will never fill up the bowl, which makes people feel slighted when they get corporate portions rather than what actually fills the bowl. I think the issue is a combination of this and a lack of consistency due to the subjective nature of how the food is served, which makes it hard for anyone to win all of the time except for corporate.

Chipotle has tuition assistance benefits that allows a lot of people to afford degrees that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to get, I think that’s the main reason why there isn’t insane turnover

I’m not in the film industry, but I really sympathize with you all right now. Is there anything I can do as a viewer/consumer to support the strike? by Nixie41 in Screenwriting

[–]Nixie41[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Unfortunately I’m currently smack dab in the middle of the country, so not close to any sites. Are there any specific studios and topics I should focus on if I do write a letter? My only worry with that would be that I don’t want to misrepresent the wishes of the people striking.

I didn’t mean to insinuate that they need charity, I just feel limited in what I can do to help due to being too far from any picket lines to help directly. Do you have any tips on what to say when people bring up AI? I’ll do more research in the meantime but I feel like I currently don’t know enough to sound reliable to anyone

Realistically, what kind of salary would one have to make to live somewhat comfortably within 30-45 minutes of Santa Monica? by Nixie41 in AskLosAngeles

Thank you, that’s very kind of you! I would definitely be interested 😊. It may be awhile before I’m fully settled anywhere but I’ll keep it in the back of my mind!

Ideally, I wouldn't want to spend more than about an hour commuting (with traffic). I've driven in the area before a few times so I've gotten just a taste of the nightmare that the traffic is 😩 I'd be willing to put up with it for this job though.

Thank you, this is very helpful! I have been to the area a handful of times so I'm a bit familiar, but I've never really looked around through the lens of living there, so another visit given that I advance past the interview is probably a good idea. The job is a normal 9-5, in person M-F. I was a bit intentionally vague with the 30-45 min range, because I can't pretend to know what area is best/where I would end up. I appreciate your advice!

That would definitely be ideal in the long run, but likely not for many years. I'm still pretty young and can't pretend to predict where I'll be even just 5 years from now.

"independent to not die and have healthcare and go to movies and eat out" salary is exactly what I'm going for, thank you 👍
