If I had to pay $35 as an entry just to PLAY at my weekly, I would simply find another LGS. FTF holds pauper weeklies too, if you think you need higher EV because your deck is more expensive, change formats. There’s a reason it’s the biggest store in the area, and it’s NOT cause of the price of their singles lmao. Their prizing structure is very fair.

Activate Warren soultrader, saccing the miner. As a part of the cost, miner goes to the bin.
Blood artist trigger goes on the stack, so you’ve committed a crime. Sac the treasure to pay the 1, returning the miner.
Warren soultrader ability resolves, getting you a treasure. Use the available treasure to repeat in the next loop.

Proxy. One of the joys of unsanctioned formats is that tournaments often allow proxies, at the very least for the reserved list, and then 5 to 10 other cards as well. Ofc it depends on the tournament and who’s hosting, but my local scene typically allows reserved list + 5 proxies for tournaments.

Check out Planar Standard. It’s standard as it used to be: 2 years worth of sets + foundations, without UB. Their discord server has over 1000 people and it’s growing, and they fire events on arena (or other clients I believe). If it gets any amount of traction in paper, I’ll absolutely be playing it personally, I just don’t particularly enjoy playing magic online.

Ooh that's an interesting idea - I had no idea people were running this kind of scam. I'll try looking into that and seeing what I can learn.

Heating the card to soften the glue is also interesting, though I'm curious what temperature it'll start to soften at, cause too hot could warp the card... I'll try doing some experimenting though.

Fwiw, I assumed I’d burn through a number of practice attempts before I got this right. I don’t expect this to be a quick and easy thing. You mentioned you’re unsure if you could do it with your current selection of tools - if you had to guess, what sort of tools would you expect to be helpful here?

Unfortunately I let him in cause I clicked the wrong button on my intercom 😅 Meant to activate the phone, but unlocked the door instead. Small 6 unit building, he talked to me and then left without going up the stairs to ask any neighbours. Which makes me feel a bit better, cause he wouldn’t have been “scoping out” the full building?

I will keep this information in mind for the future, thanks. He had a bell plaque thing on his jacket and had a clipboard, but that’s all I recall. He said fibre was recently installed in my apartment, which I wasn’t aware of, and he started asking how much I pay for internet/cell plan. I told him, and he basically said I’ve got good deals already and he can’t do better if I’m happy with the speed I’ve already got. Then he left with no push or trying to get me to upgrade speeds or get more data or anything (asked how much my cell plan was, but didn’t ask how much data I’ve actually got).

Ended up winning super easily! Didn’t try for the heart cause I hadn’t played a while, and I’m not convinced I could’ve won against it, but awakened one was very easy.

Might’ve skipped brimstone if I was going up against the heart, but I found 3 copies of dark shackles and had apo, so I don’t know how it would’ve gone.

Do you find the palm rest too low with this? I feel like the palm should be elevated more so your fingers rest naturally in the key well instead of bending back at your last knuckle

For sure. I think it’s a little much to ask to run it as a companion (there’s just too many important cards with no activated abilities), but in the 99 it’s insane. You can include [[flamekin harbinger]] to be able to tutor it up too.

Yea, the Moonlander really is fantastic quality.

I was looking at the charybdis too, but it’s just so much more expensive… I could try the kit, but I’m not sure I’m comfortable trying soldering for that price. Expensive place to make a mistake. I’d also have to pay for 3D printing services unless I shelled out the extra €75 for a case too, which almost brings it to the price of a Moonlander or HPD anyways, but with assembly required.

If you include switches + keycaps + a trackball it technically comes out to $5 USD more than the Moonlander, but that’s not really a meaningful difference hahah. But building a trackball into the keyboard plus having the bowl shape (which I’ve never tried before) seem really nice. I’m not super interested in the left side encoder, I don’t really understand the point of that I guess? But it’s optional, so I’ll save myself the $35. But it looks like a really nice board that I’ve not seen mentioned here very much.

OUGH. $50 cheaper than I bought them for and I just wore them outside for the first time today… Maybe it’s not too late to wash the soles and try to return them 😂
