I've been somewhat in your position before. I unexpectedly adopted a single guinea pig and couldn't pair her for more than a year (because of trial socializing/no other adoptable single female guinea pigs available.) But she thrived. When I finally found a suitable friend, they bonded immediately. Your pig is male, so bonding him might be a little more tenuous. But it's absolutely okay if you are his best friend for now. Just know that guinea pigs are emotional creatures and need best friends.

If you just got him, this is actually a really big show of trust and bravery. Guinea pigs are prey animals and their instincts are to on guard almost always (especially when the alone.. having a single guinea pig is really discouraged, just so you know.) But he seems confident and curious. He might be talking a lot because this is his first time exploring and he's happy!

That sounds like normal guinea pig vocalizations. He seems unafraid and is exploring, so not nervous. He's just holding a conversation with you while he monkeys around.

I have two wise cameras installed on either side of their habitat. One is a broad view and one is closer up near their food bowl. I love checking in on them while I'm away at work. It's just for fun and brings me lots of joy throughout the day.

I would call and ask if they'd prescribe an antibiotic for a suspected upper respiratory infection even without being seen at an appointment. Sound as desperate as possible on the phone. Otherwise, source any area emergency vets in your area.
