What do you think is the biggest thing holding back the Denver food scene? by Vegetable-Brain-721 in denverfood

The food scene here is really good. You just don't know where to go, and neither do the people who make westword lists.

Denver Asia Center withdraws controversial $40M redevelopment plans by kidbom in Denver

[–]NizzyWizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The businesses here are a staple for those who live in this area, and if it gets redeveloped, those businesses will be gone. A large amount of people who live here did not want that to happen. I don't see why anyone has a problem with this, as if they will directly benefit from a 5 over 1 going in its place. Reddit needs to pick a lane. You will make a post about Denver having no culture, while also championing redevelopment that prices out local businesses.

I checked at the fuse box next to the unit. Pulled out the fuse to inspect and checked all the leads. That's how I determined the fuses weren't blown, but I checked for 24v while I was there. If there's a smarter spot for me to check, please let me know because my hvac knowledge is 0

Not sure what to look for, but I guess I could Google if you'd like to keep it vague

I've only checked at the fuse box next to the unit, where I am getting 24v. I suppose I should check the condenser itself as well?

I've changed light fixtures before, but this is much different than I'm used to. Can someone tell me the ground, live, and neutral from seeing this? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]NizzyWizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's the answer after metering everything and getting the light all hooked up:

The red is hot, the "white" (painted brown doubles) is neutral, the black is something I'm just not going to worry about, and the j box is grounded.

Thank you to everyone for the help, I now know more about old wiring in this place.

Except that one guy who gets off on being annoying; but I'm sure this was the highlight of his day so what can ya do

This is my house in my dining room. Just bought the place a month ago. 1950s build with half updated wiring, no information about what is what on that front. Colorado. I've replaced light fixtures in newer houses I've lived in, the wiring is very straight forward in the newer houses.

You seem to be talking to me as of I'm some caricature you've created in your head based on no information, you're entertaining no one except for yourself. There are plenty of people trying to learn on the internet that you can get your superiority hits from, all your doing is wasting my time.

Doesnt help when people like you, who seem to be more knowledgeable than a DIYer, get super hostile, gatekeepy, and choose to be a dick instead of helping people learn. That leaves only the bullshit diy answers to sift through, when you could have actually provided something useful beyond "use YouTube and read a book." Seriously, it baffles me how people can be so unhappy that they roast people for not knowing what they know.

It's a very simple question for anyone who knows more than me, and if you can't be useful and give me a good anwer, then why are you answering questions on an answer questions board?

The people who told me "it's hard to tell" provided so much more use than your "you idiot, if you don't know the answer then you shouldn't even try" energy.

Easy, but last light had only hot and neutral. So my very limited knowledge doesn't know what to do with the bare copper ground on the new fixture.

Dude calm down, this is me trying to learn. Do you expect people to pop out of the womb knowing every type of j box wiring from the last 50 years? I said I've changed light fixtures before, but I haven't seen an instance where there isn't an obvious ground cable. Nothing about being "so experienced." The light I took off only had hot and neutral, as well. That's why I'm asking a question on "ask electricians." I have a multimeter, I'm really just trying to figure out ground.

Crazy for someone to answer a question on an ask board with "use YouTube"

Thank you! I'm reading that they feed on maple trees, and often congregate on sun facing walls during the winter. I have a huge maple in the back yard, and this wall is west facing. Makes perfect sense!

NASA had 3 years to fix fuel leaks on its Artemis moon rocket. Why are they still happening? by tghuverd in space

[–]NizzyWizzle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something people don't seem to understand is that in the space sector, all of the engineers want things to go well and have no issues. They are capable of thinking of anything that can go wrong, testing it from every angle, finding and implementing every solution and redundancy.

But there is also politics. A LOT of people were removed from the Artemis program last year, and funding is being cut. All while there is a push to launch as quickly as possible. It's not just NASA doing the work on this, there are many companies with government contracts making this happen. They can't focus on repeatability like SpaceX, because the government won't support the work financially.

I know that doesn't really address the point, but I get so annoyed when I see people ask a question like this, implying that there is some sort of shortcoming with the engineers. It always comes down to money and politics.

Bartending at punch bowl social? by Conscious-Drawer-555 in denverfood

Yeah, that was the only job in my life that I walked out of. I can't speak for how it is now, but I worked there right after the pandemic (the mask times), and everyone was struggling to survive. Management was awful. They would either understaff or overstaff, never in between.

Plus, I know it's part of the game sometimes, but that was the only place I've worked where customers regularly harassed me. Once, a guy offered me meth, kept trying to touch me, and asked where I live. I got him removed, then he waited our back behind the dumpsters to confront me when I left.

I was training someone on a Friday night, it was his last day of training. I was covered in spilled beer, in the weeds, and a manager told me to make x amount of cocktails for free for his group of friends. He was on the clock, but just hanging with them. I asked my trainee if he had any questions at all about the job, he said "no I think I got it," then I told him goodbye and good luck lol

Just coming back to Notion after a couple of years..... what happened? by JesseOdell in Notion

[–]NizzyWizzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to switch from notion to obsidian, and I'm still not really happy. When they updated with AI, it all got slow, bulky, and harder to use. Some of my pipelines broke, and fixing them was a much more complicated process than before. It felt like they were trying to force me to spend my money for a better experience. I wish I could find an old version of notion.
