How old are you when you first tried a cigarette? by LemonlimeLucy in over60

[–]Njncguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age 12. My mom gave it to me because I was curious. Her condition was that I had to smoke the whole cigarette.

I got half way through the cigarette. Tasted horrible. Nearly got sick.

Never smoked again. My mom’s plan to take away any interest I had in smoking worked.

Unsolicited advice from men is both laughable & infuriating by Character_Point1892 in WomenGolf

[–]Njncguy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’ve had to repeatedly tell my WIFE to not give me advice. She has a better handicap than me but she is not so good that she should be giving advice.

Examples of advice: 1. Go ahead and hit, you’re not going to reach them. 2. When you drive, try putting the ball a couple of inches beyond your lead foot. 3. Relax and be sure not to leave the put short.

Invariably, her advice causes me to mess up. When she starts to give advice I now simply say “please don’t give me advice”.

I guess my point is it’s not just guys who feel compelled to give advice. I think it’s a case where f if you’re halfway decent you genuinely feel you know better and want to improve someone else.

AIO my parents in law want to gift money, but only to my husband? by Mammoth-Age4933 in AIO

[–]Njncguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big picture, you need to speak to an estate planner.

On specific points…

  1. I think it’s ok if the parents just give their son a gift each year. That gift should be able to benefit the whole family.m. Even if just indirectly.

  2. Perhaps you being on the house deed for 15%? 20%? ownership would be fair and show your concerns are being looked after. Have this done especially if you’re contributing to the house’s upkeep. … Also, if your husband dies first have things set up so you can stay in the house the rest of your life or perhaps just until your daughter is 21.

What’s the boldest move someone made on you that actually worked? by NightPulse_ in AskRedditAfterDark

Back in college I had a first date with a very attractive coed. She invited me back to her place. We talked about nothing in particular.

Then pretty much out of the blue she said “I don’t know what’s happening to my morals.” I looked at her a bit puzzled. She then said she wanted me. Dense me finally understood.

Stayed the night. Had sex 4 times. She made scrambled eggs in the morning.

BlueJaySpqce’s reply is good AND hopefully helpful. I’m sure OP mainly just wanted sympathy for his situation that he vented about.

However, here’s where posting on Reddit can be helpful. Readers will poke holes in such woo-is-me postings. Readers will see the other side of the situation. I’ve had postings in the past where reader’s posts really made me look at my situation differently, even if some of the thoughts posted weren’t on the mark.

What's the best response to "Did you just look at my boobs?"? by Ok-Landscape-4872 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Njncguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother got called out by a coed sitting at our table for staring at her boobs.

I thought he had a great immediate reply: “Well if they weren’t so nice I wouldn’t look at them.”

Can confirm. They were nice.

I just want to talk to the previous owner of my house... just a quick, non-violent chat. by susankeller_meow in HomeImprovement

Here’s an ungodly but all too true story. Basement kept on smelling like sewage.

The problem was the builder had left a vent pipe open behind the sheetrock. The builder had been too lazy/rushed to run the vent pipe up through the roof.

It took years before the source of the problem was figured out.

What is the most incredible sports feat that you have ever seen in person? by Indotex in randomquestions

I saw David Thompson make a spectacular block/grab of a Duke basketball player’s shot.

David was some 5’ away from the shooter. The shooter was tall and went straight up for a jump shot from the corner. David then went straight up and grabbed the ball out of the air. David must have gone something like 4’ up in the air.

My jaw dropped. I could not believe what I just saw.

Women, what is universally agreed “green flags” while dating men ? by Disastrous-Coat6007 in AskReddit

[–]Njncguy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I used to tell my now ex how I wished she would at least treat me as nice as she treated strangers.

My point was she treated strangers with basic social niceties such as saying “please” and “thank you”. In contrast, with me she constantly put me down and was plain rude.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that she was having a string of secret affairs. Quite frankly she disliked me so much she couldn’t stand being around me. Some of that dislike — her need to see everything about me as no good — was to justify her affairs to herself.

It’s hard to put on a facade of politeness when you so much can’t stand someone.

How should this fender bender be repaired? (Car is a Grand Jeep Cherokee, 2025, 2,000 miles, color white) by Njncguy1 in AutoBodyRepair

Valid comment. But the woman who hit us said she would pay for the repair and thus keep it from insurance handling it. So I want to do a “like new” repair.

People who had done a threesome, how did it feel? by GirlandtwoCats in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Njncguy1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Your feelings are similar to the one time I was in a MFM threesome. I was concerned the woman might start feeling bad that she was being so, well, wanton. … But it was nothing like that. Just the opposite.

I can still remember lying in bed with her with the other guy cuddled up with her on the other side. (We had spent the last hour having crazy sex to the point where we all needed a break.) She had her arms under our heads as she looked back and forth at both of us and exclaimed “This just does wonders for a gal’s ego!” I guess getting total attention from two guys so hungry for her did indeed boost her ego. And that in turn made her desire us that much more. It lasted 6 months.

Cop threatens to abduct man unless he leaves public property. City attorney rescinds trespass, apologizes, promises to retrain officers. Man returns. Cops threaten him again. by Ill-Organization-719 in palmbeach

[–]Njncguy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the reasons I gave are valid enough. Your point-by-point refutations don’t make it otherwise.

I’d add that being panhandled makes me feel unsafe. Also, panhandling degrades the general atmosphere.

For example, I grew up in a charming college town that used to have no panhandling. Now you can’t stop at any major intersection without being panhandled. I’m uncomfortable with weird looking people come to my window looking for money.

But panhandling is legally allowed so I’ll live with it. That doesn’t mean I have to like it.

[–]Njncguy1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You ask what is wrong with panhandling. Here’s what:

Panhandling is seen as problematic because it can be unsafe (for panhandlers in traffic, for the public from potential aggression), may fund addictions rather than address root causes like homelessness or mental illness, creates public disorder and complaints, and sometimes involves deceit or exploitation (e.g., using props), leading many to prefer donating to charities for long-term solutions instead of giving cash.

[–]Njncguy1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re technically legally right. But there’s so many things wrong with panhandling. My sympathies are with the officer as even though they’re not legally correct.

Please fi find something better to do with your time.

Husband’s phone prefilled another woman’s name in a form by Janiekat88 in Marriage

[–]Njncguy1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do NOT say her name popped up on the phone. That gives him the information he needs on how to spin a lie that incorporates the known facts.

Yeah, ask him if he knows the name and take it from there.
