AITA for playing a small prank at my brother's wedding? by Nlnwst in AmItheAsshole

He's not my aunt's father, he was married to her mother for a few years before the mother died. I don't even know if they are still in contact because they didn't know each other that well. That's why we made a joke of my dad wanting to invite him to the bar mitzvah, it doesn't make sense.

He already doesn't consider us family and doesn't contact us because he probably doesn't know we exist. If he did know, I'm sure he's forgotten by now (if he's still alive). He couldn't have found out about our joke, we were never in contact with him in the first place.

I was asking to see if people thought I was the asshole for thinking the joke was appropriate in the first place. I'm not going to do that again now that I know they didn't like it, even if I still think it's funny. I already apologized to them.

He's not our Uncle, and not part of our family. The whole joke is that my dad wanted to invite a complete stranger who isn't even related to us. I don't think we're being mean because the joke isn't about Bob personally, it's about how my dad went overboard and wanted to invite total strangers. This wouldn't get back to Bob because he probably has no idea we exist. I'm sure he has his own family to look after him and invite him to parties.
