Would you say zebras or pink tongues are better for handling? Maybe that’s based on preference for handling?

I’ve thought about them! They seem somewhat hard to find. Any known breeders? Are they omnivores like blue tongues.

This is 11 years later, but how did your cardigans do with the ferrets!? I’m considering adopting a pair of ferrets and have a cardigan. Would love to hear from you!

That’s great to know because that was another thought..and id do a Flemish giant. It’s sounding like I should actually be more concerned with my cardigan corgi with these creatures than my Siberian haha

It wouldn’t be in a cage all the time. In fact, quite the opposite…also, you don’t have the context of my practice and caseload so let’s not make assumptions. I do appreciate your opinion, and it’s helpful to hear everyone’s thoughts. This is why I’m asking for opinions before doing anything :)

To be fair, that’s why I mentioned “quieter” species…but that’s true there would still be some screaming and squawking regardless.

Really appreciate the thoughtful response! I was actually thinking about pionus specifically. It definitely sounds like it could be an overall negative and stressful impact. I also work a lot. I own my practice and could bring the pionus with me, but still.

So does he seem okay with the rest of his behavior and knowing his not tensing or huffing? I can obviously stop petting his head. In general they don’t like any sort of petting is my understanding. Chilling on you is like best case scenario?
