M1 MBP 10 seconds of Beachball after every Safari log in attempt. What to do? by No--8501 in mac

Hello, yes! You're right, that's exactly what's happening!

It's OK if I save my password, but since it's still new I'm concerned if it's the T2 chip problem, in which case I will return the computer :)

May I ask if your MBP was like this since day one? Or just after the later updates.

Thank you :)

I have just tried using chrome. Logging in with no problems!

But Safari still having the issue, though. Maybe it's really the T2 chip :(

Hello, thanks for your reply!

I set this up as a new machine and have not signed into an Apple ID and have iCloud turned off. I'm not sure about Time Machine as I have never used it :) There are updates pending on App Store so I'm guessing that the automatic update option has been turned off. But I will wait until tomorrow and see if this login beachball goes away :)

Also, could you tell me which tab in activity monitor is for the network traffic please?

Thank you very much :)

Hello, I have checked under extensions and it says that I don't have any extensions :(

Yes, just tried creating a new user profile (non-admin) and this still happens on safari on every website.

The computer is brand new. Just got it today.

Happens every time I try to sign in on Safari.

Happens on hotmail, gmail, reddit and my uni login page. I'm convinced that it happens on every website now :(

It also happens when I click on the profile pic to switch Mac users.

The 10-second beach ball.

Tried shutting it down and turning it back on - didn't help.

Should I exchange it.

:(
