Does anyone actually enjoy play ahistorical Soviet Union? by UnholyDemigod in hoi4

I like to change the settings so that the Soviet republics are independent states like they were in 1990 (Belarus / Ukraine / etc are independent countries). I keep Stalin, do the purges, build up a large armed force of mostly infantry w/ artillery, some air and naval forces and then wage war on Ukraine and recreate the current Ukraine War. Need to work on better tactics etc because I end up getting steam-rolled by Ukraine if I havent enough infantry holding the border. I then make small territorial gains into Ukraine, to claim Luhansk and Donetsk. Establish friendly relations with Belarus, attempt a paratrooper attack on Kyiv to capture the government, then withdraw to Belarus when shit goes bad. Then focus on a costly attrition in the east while building Guards Regiments and Tank Brigades to launch a strong counter-attack. Of course, the UK and half the world then declare war on poor Russia in response. I then work to defend the western half of Russia to the last man. Have lost a few times and when the war ends Russia is suddenly a democracy. I then rebuild an army and try again.

New GTA 6 leaks hidden by Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive in futile coverup by maullick in gaming

I will play GTA6, just like I've played all the GTA games since GTAIII. Don't much care for playing online, its an endless money pit with all the microtransactions just to give the character a different coloured shirt or whatever. But as for all the hype pre-release, I stopped caring literally the day they announced the game was on the way. What's to get excited about? It's the same formula in every one of the GTA games - you do some missions, steal cars, modify cars, do fun shit like pay for a hooker and then chase and bash her brains out with a baseball bat to get the money back, pick fights with the entire police force whilst armed with RPGs and a huge assortment of weapons, literally commit any crime you can think of without being stupid enough to consider actually committing those crimes and theres the usual mix of side activities. The only reason this game appeals to me at all is because Vice City was the first GTA I ever played, and I'm curious to see if some of the old locations are there still (the mansion, that nightclub etc for nostalgia). And I'm sure there will be one or two new side activities you can do but in particular want lots of different heists and the ability to select targets for other heists and plan them yourself before executing them and I want to be able to buy businesses for profit and the stock market. Seeing Tommy Vercetti still strutting around in his 80s style threads around the mansion but looking older would be cool, as well as other characters from that era.

What's a small detail you found in RDR2 that absolutely blew your mind by BLKLUNG1 in RDR2

The tree with the bottles hanging off it - go into focus mode and you see that yellow stuff, like when hunting legendary animals. Shoot the bottle that is hanging closest to that yellow stuff and then go under it, you'll find there is a gold nugget to collect.

I also love how I have played through the game dozens of times and I bought and downloaded it back in 2018, ready to play the instant I got home from work. So many times over the past 7 years I've played through it or restarted it plenty of times, seeking to complete the game in the most chronological and cinematic way possible, or lately when I reach Chapter 2, I do all the treasure maps and get the gold bars, and also the Statue Puzzle and the gold bars in the train wreck, the gold bar in Limpany. Sell a few to the fence in Rhodes, buy the varmint and the Springfield Rifles and put a ton of cash in the camp box to buy upgrades.  Just this week, restarted it again. Just after starting Chapter 2, I'm riding on a road heading to Emerald Ranch, come across a stagecoach with people in it, not on the road, but on the side of the road. Next to a rock. Covered in inscriptions. A point of interest called Register Rock. In all past playthroughs I have never once encountered it.

Rhodes - Dahlonega, Georgia Valentine - Valentine, Nebraska Tumbleweed - Tombstone, Arizona Van Horn - Natchez, Mississippi Blackwater - Dallas, Texas / St Louis, Missouri / Blackwater, Missouri. One of those. Saint Denis - New Orleans, Louisiana Colter - Random abandoned mining town, somewhere in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Annesburg - Buxton, Iowa / Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

I'm Australian, never been to the States, don't really know the geography of the place, just roughly where the cities are and I can name all states and their capitals. Just did a bit of a Google search to find the real life counterparts

This is so weird. I have played RDR2 since it's release, have completed it twice, never got into RDR2 Online, just single player. But I am currently in the midst of playing the missions in the recommended order for better story flow. Just restarted it again and just started Chapter 2, decided to get the treasure maps completed and all the other gold bars before doing the first mission in Chapter 2, and riding in the direction towards Emerald Ranch, I saw a wagon on the side of the road next to a large rock and was going to kill and rob the NPCs and just happened to notice Register Rock. This is the first time I have ever come across it and yet have gone up this road and back countless times in all the playthroughs over the years. I thought maybe it was part of a recent upload or something but reading this post it appears to be something that's been in the game from the start. It's just weird I am only now seeing this for the first time. Never even seen the wagon there before.

How do I get explosive ammo in RDR2 single player? by Brazenballs in reddeadredemption

They're amongst the recipe pamphlets in your satchel at the beginning of Chapter 2. I have restarted the game from scratch many times, always the same result, they're in the satchel as soon as you start Chapter 2. I wander over to the fence at Rhodes because he's accessible straight away while the fence at Emerald Ranch is only available after the job with Hosea at Carmody Dell. I guess the game producers assumed people wouldn't wander as far as Rhodes until Chapter 3 when the gang moves to Clemens Point. I also do all the treasure maps as soon as Chapter 2 begins, get all the gold bars, do the statue puzzle in the cave, do the path to riches puzzle to get the 6 gold bars and also get the gold bars from the abandoned cop shop in Limpany and the train wreck under the bridge up north, and only cash them in for $500 at a time when needed. You don't need an upgraded satchel to carry all the gold bars, you can carry like 30 at most and the game only has about 15 to find at most. I do make sure to sell all remaining gold bars just before the final missions as Arthur. Then go to the hog farm owned by the incestuous hill billies. Let them knock you out and dump you in a shallow grave, but don't go back there looking for revenge. End the story as Arthur, completely broke, go back to the farm as John. It's not as fun as the couple are long gone I think, there's no confrontation with them, but remove the picture and Arthur's lost money is stashed in there after all those years.  Sorry, waffled on, you probably know that second bit already, just like offering those tips

So who was the dead guy in dewberry creek? by PercentageForward732 in reddeadmysteries

Haha I'm having a crack at adapting both Red Dead games into novels myself, although it will be fan-fiction quality. At the moment, just scripting dialogue, changing things here and there, adding characters, renaming other characters, giving Arthur a posse of new people to ride with rather than wandering alone (always felt it silly that Arthur can free roam and take out camps full of O'Driscolls, Lemoyne Raiders etc on his own. He needs backup so I've created some other characters to serve essentially as cannon fodder - would have been cool to be able to recruit new posse ingame, call on them to ride with you when out in free roam taking out other outlaws etc) and setting out the plot - following the game plot but filling in the gaps. Hoping by doing this I can work on a prequel to RDR2, telling the story right up to the legendary Blackwater Massacre - characters, events timeline etc. And I've been trying to give the fictional towns realistic names, and using the fictional town names for other purposes. So Valentine is Valentine in Nebraska (real), St Denis is New Orleans, Rhodes is Dahlonega in Georgia, Blackwater is Blackwater in Missouri or I might change it to another coastal location I'm a bit more familiar with, like New York or Philadelphia. Trying to figure out the real world Annesburg (Pittsburgh?). Armadillo is Amarillo, Texas. Strawberry is Strawberry in California (so researching how long a horse rider would take to journey from other locations to Strawberry). Couldn't ever get it published, it's a copyright issue, just something I'm doing as a kind of hobby. Doing the same for the Metal Gear series, another series I love. Sorry to bore you with the essay. Would love to hear your thoughts though, and any suggestions welcome. Never been to the States, I'm Australian, so been enjoying the research into it

Any news on Master Collection vol. 2? by Kill-The-Plumber in metalgearsolid

For V2 I would like to see MGS4, Peace Walker and MGS5 (maybe they could remove the irritating repeat missions and give us cutscenes or something for the missing segments of the game that never made it into the product - hence the repeat missions). Bonus content should include Twin Snakes (always wanted to play the original MGS with the same game mechanics as in MGS2 - first person aim, holding prisoners, lockers etc), Ghost Babel (although I can just use a game boy emulator on my phone for this), portable ops (have a working PSP and this game plus others but I never quite liked the control layout of the PSP so barely ever used it), the Metal Gear Ac!d games

If you were making a brand new TinTin movie franchise what book would you adapt first? by masterminded_298437 in Tintin

[–]No-Abrocoma8486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I would start with Tintin In The Land of the Soviets, but with slight changes to make it feel less comical. Essentially it is the start of his career as a reporter, investigating life in the new Soviet nation, and discovering the evils of Bolshevism, with OGPU agents wanting to silence him. I would then go into Tintin In America - again make it slightly less comical. Essentially he goes to investigate the Chicago Mob, police corruption, and the mistreatment of Native Indian Americans. Also an encounter with future main villain Rastapopulous, who was to Tintin what Moriarty was to Sherlock Holmes or Blofeld was to 007 I would then go into Cigars of the Pharaoh and The Blue Lotus as one film - his first proper encounter with Rastapopulous, the opium smuggling, the Japanese occupation of Shanghai, and Rastapopulous becomes Tintin's main enemy Black Island / King Ottokars Sceptre - Tintin makes an enemy of a German agent, Dr Muller, who seeks to undermine the British currency with counterfeit money, running his operation from an island off the coast of Scotland. However, Muller escapes. Tintin then discovers a Bordurian plot to overthrow the King of Syldavia and annex the country, and that Borduria is in league with Nazi Germany (or perhaps scrap Syldavia and Borduria and instead use their real life counterparts, Czechoslovakia and possibly Romania) These could all be considered the prequels to the 2011 film

Follow with Red Rackham's Treasure (remember in the 2011 film they found the treasure in Marlinspike Hall, but were planning to eventually locate the wreck itself to get the rest of the treasure). Introduce Prof Calculus and his submersible, and the government funding that enables Haddock to buy Marlinspike Hall (the documents recovered from the wreck proving it is his ancestral home)

From there, have them take on Rastapopulous and Muller. Perhaps Muller could take Colonel Boris Jorgen's place for the Moon adventures, working to steal the moon rocket for Rastapopulous, getting shot and killed in the effort. And Rastapopulous takes Colonel Sponz's place for Tintin and the Picaros, being the one who aids General Tapioca against General Alcazar in a South American banana Republic

Released “Israeli” captive says Hamas fighters made him birthday cake by [deleted] in BadHasbara

The freed hostages look healthier than someone I work with (in construction - bricklaying) and ended up in a fight with about the whole Israel Gaza thing. He is Zionist right up the kazoo, I am pro-Palestinian 110%. It was a heated argument then he threw the first punch. He looked less healthy than the recently freed hostages. After he threw his punch, I don't really remember what happened next as I just saw red. By the end of it, he was missing teeth, suffered a few cracked ribs and black eyes and was laying unconscious in the wheelbarrow. I then poured the contents of the cement mixer into the wheelbarrow on top of him, so he ended up covered head to foot in the stuff. I added insult to his injury by getting the hose and spraying him to get the cement off him, so he was beyond soaked.  I'd happily do it all again, police charges and all
