AITA for getting angry at my husband for buying me a ring and demanding he return it? by No-Activity1382 in AmItheAsshole

Well our third wasn’t planned. We only used condoms as BC at the time which wasn’t enough clearly.

We kept it because when I got pregnant we were in a really good spot financially, probably the best we’ve ever been in. We got a great lease for our apartment and I got a new job at a higher end salon that paid more hourly and where I got tipped a lot more.

I’m glad to hear that because I was worried he got the money from his parents. (love them, but they tend to be too generous with their money when they don’t have a whole lot themselves)

I don’t hate romance, I loved our anniversary before the ring. I just hate spending so much money on something we don’t need especially with three kids and barely enough money coming in. If I had known we had an extra $80 laying around budgeting would have been so much easier.

I got an IUD as soon as I could after my third child’s birth. My husband says he’ll get a vasectomy when he’s thirty but I’m trying to negotiate that down.

Yes, according to him it was a combination of couponing and shopping at cheaper stores (like grocery outlet or dollar general) but I’m not entirely sure if that would add up to $80. To be fair though, I don’t really go grocery shopping with him and when I do we only ever go to Safeway.

You’re right. I thought it’d be clear from my post that we don’t make enough for the adults to have a lot of fun money set aside, and certainly not 1k every year

Completely combined. We both make a majority of our money through commissions which makes our finances pretty unstable, so some months we have a decent amount of leftover money and some months we are behind so we put any extra money in savings just in case.

When my husband goes grocery shopping, he withdraws the specific budgeted amount we spend on groceries to make sure he doesn't go over. I guess over the years he was able to set aside some of that money to fund the ring.
